Warehouse Training Coach
Role overview: Coach and train team members on the warehouse floor and in short classroom sessions to drive safe, consistent performance. You'll deliver onboarding and refresher training, certify PIT (powered industrial truck) operators, and maintain training records for a diverse, multilingual workforce.
What success looks like:
- Team members demonstrate safe, correct performance by the end of training.
- PIT (powered industrial truck) operators are trained, evaluated, and certified, with records kept current.
- Supervisors have clear visibility to trainee progress and follow-up needs.
What you'll do (skills-based responsibilities):
- Train on the floor and in brief sessions: demonstrate tasks, observe performance, and confirm understanding.
- Reinforce safety and standard work: teach site processes, SOPs, and safe behaviors.
- Certify PIT operators: deliver training, evaluate competency, and manage recertification needs.
- Measure and document competency: administer checks, complete evaluations/audits, and maintain accurate records.
- Partner with leaders: share progress and gaps with supervisors and align on coaching follow-up.
- Improve training materials: update job aids/checklists and recommend improvements based on floor observations.
Skills & competencies:
- Bilingual communication: English + Spanish (able to explain work and safety expectations clearly).
- Coaching & facilitation: hands-on instruction, feedback, and small-group training.
- Safety leadership: models safe work and reinforces standards.
- Collaboration & influence: partners with operations leaders and earns trust on the floor.
- Organization: prioritizes, tracks progress, and maintains accurate documentation.
- Computer skills: Microsoft Office and comfort using systems to track training.
Required qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Bilingual: English + Spanish
- Able to train actively on the warehouse/production floor and facilitate short classroom sessions.
- Strong communication skills with hourly team members and leaders; comfortable giving feedback and asking questions.
- Organized and detail-oriented with accurate recordkeeping.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Familiarity and openness to using AI software
- Flexibility to meet operational needs, including working a swing shift between 2nd and 3rd shift for coverage (and, as needed, overtime and/or weekends).
Preferred qualifications:
- Training/coaching experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, or logistics environment.
- PIT trainer experience or prior PIT operator certification.
- Experience creating or improving training materials (job aids, checklists, SOP-based instruction).
Work environment:
This role is highly active and requires frequent presence on the warehouse/production floor to coach, observe, and evaluate work in real time. You should be able to walk and stand for extended periods, move between work areas, and communicate in a fast-paced environment while following all site safety requirements.
