Title: Surgical Technology Clinical 9/10 Month Faculty (Fall 2026) Number of Positions: 1 Type of Appointment: Full-Time Tenure Track School: School of Sciences and Nursing Department: Surgical Technology Job Objective: This is a tenure-track position. Provide guidance, instruction, and leadership to Registered surgical technology students at the assigned program site. Supports essential program functions, including faculty coordination, curriculum management, and student success initiatives. Collaborates with clinical affiliates and educational coordinators for the Operating Room, utilizing interpersonal skills in relations with students, clinical personnel, and physicians. Essential Job Functions: 65% – Curriculum Maintenance and Development Teaching at the clinical and lab level. Ensure curriculum is current, relevant, and aligned with program standards through clinical placements and appropriate clinical hours. Participate in ad hoc committees as assigned and suggest scheduling and staffing to ensure coverage. 15% – Leadership Represent the program in advisory board meetings, adjunct orientation, and advocate for program-specific needs. Coordinate adjunct recruitment and hires; evaluate adjuncts and clinical sites each semester per policy. Ensure compliance with hospital regulations and regulatory bodies. 10% – Assessment Provide a course report at faculty meetings and discuss assessment adjustments and enrollment numbers. Participate and coordinate assessment directives as assigned. Ensure program follows affiliates’ and regulatory bodies’ policies. 10% – Other duties as assigned Job Standards: Graduate of a surgical technology education program accredited by a nationally recognized agency. An Associate’s degree is required (preferred concentration in surgical technology) with the ability to complete a Bachelor’s degree within 3 years of hire. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Possess a credential in surgical technology through a national certification program accredited by the NCCA. Critical Skills/Expertise/Experience: Three years of documented experience in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology, or a combination, within the past five years. Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills; capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent oral and written English competencies. Effective academic communication skills; prior experience in an academic institution is advantageous. Job Location: The primary location includes clinical facilities and institutions used by Pellissippi State Community College for surgical technology student experiences, which may span all campus sites.
