Program Specialist
The Center for Development and Disability (CDD), established in 1990, is New Mexico's University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities Education, Research and Service. These centers, authorized by the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act, build the capacities of states and communities to respond to the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.
The Autism and Other Developmental Disabilities Programs Division is seeking a dedicated and organized Program Specialist to oversee and administer the day-to-day operations of NM START.
Under general supervision, this position will oversee the day to day work of the crisis prevention / intervention coordination team as well as the therapeutic coaching team. This would include organizing the participant file for weekly medication consults, regular quality assurance activities such as document reviews, QA monthly updates, and quarterly reports. Will support monthly clinical education team meetings as well as quarterly advisory council meetings to include development of materials, note taking during presentations and data transfer following meetings. This position will also organize policy and procedure manuals to prepare for program certification through NCSS.
Conditions of employment include compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement and, if located at the UNM Children's Campus, passing a comprehensive post-offer, pre-employment criminal and New Mexico Children, Youth and Families Department (CYFD) fingerprint background check.
Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and at least 6 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Preferred qualifications include experience with managing expenses through Pcard purchases, proven experience in effectively liaising with both internal and external stakeholders, strong verbal and written communication skills, and fluency in both English and Spanish.
This position requires passing a background check and fingerprinting. The position is located at the Health Sciences Center (HSC) in Albuquerque, NM, in the Pediatrics Center for Development (997H). Employment type is staff, term full-time, ending on 06 / 30 / 2026. The position is exempt and pays monthly from $3,697.20 to $5,191.33. This is a benefits eligible position.
