Customs Brokerage Department Manager
Location : TENNESSEE
Salary : $70,000 $110,000, depending on experience
Job Summary :
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Customs Brokerage Manager to lead our import compliance and customs operations. This leadership role requires deep regulatory knowledge, client-facing expertise, and the ability to develop staff and drive departmental performance.
Responsibilities :
- Oversee and maintain all aspects of the Customs Brokerage Department
- Collaborate with Branch Manager and Corporate teams to meet departmental KPIs
- Implement policies and compliance procedures to uphold U.S. Customs regulations
- Conduct internal audits and manage import compliance programs
- Stay updated on CHB / CBP and OGA regulations to ensure full compliance
- Serve as primary liaison with government agencies (e.g., CBP, FDA, USDA)
- Manage customer bond and power of attorney documentation
- Prepare and file post-entry corrections and binding rulings
- Train and develop staff on compliance standards and productivity expectations
- Support business development efforts and assist in sales / client meetings
- Ensure successful client onboarding and develop customized logistics solutions
- Oversee daily functions including Statements, Bonds, Penalties, IOR / Consignee creation, ACH, Arrival Notices, Invoicing, Entries, and Reconciliation
People Management :
Assign and balance team workload to maintain smooth daily operationsCoach, mentor, and develop team members to enhance performanceLead new hire training and maintain performance standardsCommunicate team goals and hold team accountable to expectationsQualifications :
Customs Compliance Specialist (CCS) certification preferredMinimum 5 years of experience in logistics, entry writing, or import / export complianceSupervisory or management experience requiredFamiliarity with HTS classification, international shipping, and compliance documentationStrong analytical, time management, and organizational skillsExperience with automated brokerage and shipping systemsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsBachelor s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, or related field preferredBenefits :
