Job descriptionRespiratory Therapist Respiratory Therapist Job Summary We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Respiratory Therapist to join our team at a leading in-patient acute care hospital. This role involves providing a full spectrum of respiratory care services to a diverse patient population, including neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, and adults. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in PICU, NICU, and Pediatric floors, with the ability to float to adult acute care areas as needed. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for assessing, planning, and implementing respiratory treatments and therapies. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Your expertise will be crucial in managing patients with a variety of respiratory conditions, including those requiring advanced respiratory support. Key Responsibilities Assess patients' respiratory status through physical examinations and diagnostic tests. Develop and implement respiratory care plans based on physician orders and patient needs. Administer respiratory treatments, including aerosol therapy, oxygen therapy, and mechanical ventilation. Manage and troubleshoot various types of ventilators, including Hamilton G5, C-1, and 3100-A. Provide airway management, including intubation assistance and extubation. Monitor patients' responses to therapy and adjust treatment plans as needed. Educate patients and families on respiratory care procedures and disease management. Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to coordinate patient care. Maintain accurate and complete patient records. Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures. Float to adult acute care floors as needed. Required Qualifications Minimum of 1.5 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist. BLS certification. RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) credential. Experience with EPIC charting system. Preferred Qualifications NPS (Neonatal/Pediatric Specialist) credential. Experience in a Level I Trauma Center. Experience with VDR ventilator. Skills & Competencies Proficiency in aerosol mask and trach setup. Knowledge of Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, Flovent, Pulmicort, Spiriva, Xopenex, Terbutaline Sulfate, Isuprel, Lidocaine, Ketamine, Medihaler, Perforomist, Tobramycin, Mucomyst. Expertise in managing ARDS, aspiration, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, cystic fibrosis, pneumonia, and respiratory distress syndrome. Experience with ECMO, Bubble CPAP, CPAP, BiPAP, and High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC). Ability to assist in high-risk deliveries. Proficiency in bag and mask ventilation. Knowledge of basic EKG interpretation. Experience with chest physiotherapy and vest therapy. Ability to perform sputum specimen collection and suctioning (ETT, NT). Experience with T-piece, trach collar, and tracheostomy care/management. Ability to troubleshoot high-pressure alarms. Knowledge of IMV/SIMV. Experience with inhaled Flolan, inhaled steroids, and Nitric Oxide (iNO). Proficiency in interpretation of Arterial Blood Gases (ABGs). Experience with umbilical blood gases. Knowledge of oral and nasal airway placement. Ability to perform oral/nasal suctioning. Experience with oscillating ventilators and high-frequency oscillators. Ability to perform patient transport (inter-departmental and ambulance transport). Experience with pediatric critical care, micro-preemies, and pre/post cardiac surgery patients. Familiarity with EEGs. Knowledge of transient tachypnea of the newborn. Experience with weaning from mechanical ventilation. Experience with High frequency jet ventilator.
