Most importantly, our employees are part of a team that makes a real difference in the communities we live and work in.**Job Summary:**Location: Methodist Hospital Address: 8303 Dodge St, Omaha, NE Work Schedule: Mon-Fri, 6:45am to 5:15pm, 4 - 10 hour shifts no call requirements; expected to finish EP cases Performs diagnostic imaging examinations within the electrophysiology lab. Upon orientation and successful completion of on-the-job training, assists with diagnostic angiographic procedures to assist in the completion of electrophysiology procedures. Demonstrates effective technical, radiographic, and clinical skills; the ability to multitask is essential. This position requires knowledge of sterile technique and pan-scrubbing**Responsibilities:**# **Essential Job Functions**1. Exam Performance/Quality* Identifies each patient by two identifiers and ensures patient understanding of pending procedure.* Provides comfort measures and engages patient to obtain optimal cooperation and positioning.* Critiques each exam for technical and positional accuracy and makes appropriate corrections if necessary.* Performs Exams as their priority dictates.* Ensures optimal visualization of anatomy by directing radiographic equipment.* Prepares procedural rooms and equipment according to appropriate procedural needs.* Assists cardiologist/electrophysiologist during procedures by operating ancillary equipment, anticipating and obtaining catheters, wires and other necessary inventory as ordered.* Assists in the performance of various invasive cardiac or electrophysiological diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.* Functions under the direction and immediate supervision of the cardiologist/electrophysiologist performing the procedure.* Provides direct, safe, competent, and quality patient care in the Interventional Cardiology department.2. Radiology Information system (RIS)/Cerner/Picture Archival Communication System (PACS)/Outlook/MHSIntranet* Maintains a working knowledge of system applications.* Consistently uses proper system applications for order modification, to document comments and exposures/repeats.* Consistently uses the Online Worklist to monitor orders and order status.* Demonstrates working knowledge of order entry and ability to order correct exams with proper indications. Starts, completes, and bills appropriately for exam(s) performed.* Matches digital images to RIS orders, for viewing in PACS.* Operates contrast injector, cleans and tears down equipment daily, and for deep cleaning weekly.3. Provides appropriate care specific to the age of the customer/patient to ensure understanding and comfort level of treatment as outlined in the “Age Specific Criteria” Population Specific Criteria.* Successfully completes annual Age Specific Competency Quiz.4. Implements interventions that are consistent with the established plan of care in a safe and appropriate manner (Professional Models of Care). Revises and individualizes care to address the patient's needs for optimum patient care outcomes (Consultation and Resources).* Identifies and follows protocols and standards of care for unit including Infection Control, food and drinks in lab and cell phones in procedure room.* Collaborates with physicians and other clinical disciplines as appropriate.* Provides teaching specific to the patient's health care problem.* Builds and uses knowledge based on current standards and research literature.* Participates actively in time out according to the hospital policy.* Continually monitors the patient and/or significant other(s) ability to manage care needs after dismissal from Cardiac Cath Lab (helps transfer patient and report on groin site).5. Performs technical skills competently and independently to assure patient safety. (Autonomy, Professional Development)* Able to competently perform technical skills independently (understands and can reboot system).* Understands importance of sterility and is able to establish and maintain sterile field on daily basis.* Is accountable to learn new skills and equipment within areas' specifications and time frame.* Demonstrates competence in area of experience.6. Initiates action to correct, prevent, and/or minimize risk(s) to the patient, family or hospital employees (i.e., falls, needle sticks, patient concerns). (Quality of Care)* Completes appropriate report form for any risk (e.g., incident report, patient concern report, maintenance request).* Communicates to appropriate personnel regarding unresolved issues.* Report issues/concerns to supervisor as soon as possible and provide assistance with resolution/follow-up.* Promotes and maintains a safe work environment for both staff and customers, incorporating national patient safety initiatives.8. Reviews, delegates and evaluates plans for appropriate utilization of staff at all levels of practice in accordance with the provision of the hospital and the Professional Standards of Practice.* Works within the scope of practice.* Right task (within the scope of practice, according to the job description, based on the desired outcome, task routine, non-complex, low risk and predictable outcome).* Right person (assess competency by: certification/licensure, job description, skills checklist, demonstrated skill).* Right communication (clear, concise, correct, complete).* Right feedback: the Reciprocal Process (ask teammates' input first, recognize effort, get teammates' solution to problem, check off points).**Schedule:**Monday- Friday 0645-1715, 4- 10 hour shifts; no call requirements**Job Description:**# **Job Requirements****Education*** Associate degree from approved American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (AART) School of Radiology Technology required.* Bachelor degree from approved American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (AART) School of Radiology Technology preferred.* Satisfactory completion of annual mandatory educational requirements.**Experience*** 1 year of experience in Radiology is preferred.* 1 year in a Cardiac Cath Lab or Interventional Radiology preferred.**License/Certifications*** American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography (R) registered or board eligible required.
