Job description

Senior Project Manager, Construction Services (West Region)

This position is remote but must sit in the Western US: California, Utah, Nevada, Arizona, Washington or Colorado. Must be willing to travel.

Senior Project Manager, Construction Services (West Region) is a regional leadership role responsible for the successful execution, financial performance, and team development of construction projects across the Western United States. This position provides direct leadership to Project Managers and Project Coordinators, ensures operational consistency with company standards, and acts as the primary escalation point for complex projects, customers, and field challenges.

Reporting to the Director of Project Management, the Senior Project Manager owns regional performance across safety, schedule, margin, customer satisfaction, and team development while partnering closely with Operations, Sales, Field Management, and Finance. The Senior Project Manager is a hybrid position requiring moderate travel within the West region.

This position is a leadership position, managing Project Managers, Field Managers and Project Coordinators within the West region.

Regional Leadership & Ownership

  • Own overall project execution and performance for the West Region.
  • Serve as the senior escalation point for project, customer, and field-related issues.
  • Ensure regional alignment with national project management standards, policies, and best practices.
  • Drive a culture of accountability, urgency, and "extreme ownership" across the project team.

Team Management & Development

  • Directly lead, mentor, and develop a team of Project Managers, Field Managers and Project Coordinators.
  • Set clear performance expectations and conduct regular one-on-ones, performance reviews, and development planning.
  • Partner with the Director of Project Management on hiring, onboarding, training, and succession planning.
  • Identify performance gaps and implement corrective action plans when needed.

Project Execution Excellence

  • Oversee planning, scheduling, and execution of construction services projects from turnover through closeout.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely on time, within scope, and within approved budgets.
  • Review and manage high-risk, high-value, or complex projects directly as needed.
  • Ensure proper change management, documentation, and communication throughout the project lifecycle.

Financial & Margin Accountability

  • Own regional financial performance, including project margins, cost control, and forecast accuracy.
  • Review and approve change orders, non-budgeted costs, and job adjustments within established authority limits.
  • Proactively identify cost risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Partner with Finance and Operations to improve forecasting, billing, and cash flow.

Customer & Stakeholder Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, general contractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure consistent, professional communication with customers and resolution of issues.
  • Partner with Sales and Operations to support new business, complex pursuits, and customer retention.

Process Improvement & Reporting

  • Analyze regional KPI's and performance trends; develop and execute improvement plans.
  • Ensure consistent use of project management systems, tools, and reporting.
  • Provide clear, timely, and accurate regional reporting to the Director of Project Management.
  • Lead and support regional and national initiatives to improve efficiency, scalability, and customer experience.

Safety & Compliance

  • Champion safety as a core value and ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with Field Management to reinforce safe work practices and jobsite standards.
  • Ensure projects adhere to contract requirements, company policies, and industry regulations.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to clearly convey ideas, expectations, and updates to teams and stakeholders.
  • Strategic Thinking: exceptional ability to align program/project strategies with business goals
  • Technical Expertise: understanding of project management methodologies, tools, and industry specific requirements.
  • Strong leadership skills: ability to inspire, motivate, and guide a team(s) toward achieving program/project goals.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Requirements

Education and Experience

  • A BS/BA degree from an accredited college/university; PMP and/or LEAN Six Sigma Certification.
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of project management experience, with at least three (3) years in a leadership or senior independent contributor position leading complex, multi-million dollar projects.
  • Additional certifications in one or more of the following are ideal:
  • Certified Software Quality Engineer (CSQE)
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM)
  • ISO13485/ISO9001/AS9100 Auditor

Skills and Knowledge

  • Proven PMP in startups or high-growth companies with working experience with SO9001, AS9100, ISO13485
  • Excellent Program and Quality management. Must have expertise in managing large, cross-functional projects using Waterfall and Agile methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools (e.g., Excel, scheduling software).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to deadlines and budgetary guidelines.
  • Ability to work remotely and lead a geographically dispersed team.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, Procore) is a plus.
  • Proven success working with all levels of management.

  • Must have a valid state issued Driver's License with a Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) driving record acceptable to insurance carrier.
  • The selected candidate will be required to pass a criminal history background check.
