Job description

Wealth Advisory Analyst

Vigilant Wealth Management, a Hightower advisory practice with approximately $3.8 billion in assets under management as of June, 2026, is hiring an early-career Wealth Advisory Analyst to join our Portland, ME or Portsmouth, NH team. This role is designed for a recent college graduate who wants to build a long-term career in wealth management and client advisory work with a focus on financial planning and relationship building.

You will work directly with experienced Wealth Advisors and Client Relationship Associates, learn how high-net-worth families are advised, support client planning and service work, and build the technical and professional foundation needed to grow into a broader advisory role over time.

This is a hybrid position based in either our Portland, ME or Portsmouth, NH office, with work-from-home flexibility and occasional travel between offices for team meetings, training, or client-related work. You will report to the Principal.

You will be a fit for this role if you are a recent graduate who is intellectually curious, detail-oriented, service-minded, and interested in building a long-term career in wealth management. You do not need prior experience with every system or process listed below. We are looking for strong judgment, professionalism, follow-through, communication skills, and a willingness to learn.

What You'll Learn

  • How high-net-worth individuals and families are served by an independent-minded wealth advisory practice
  • How wealth planning, investment portfolios, tax considerations, estate planning, and client goals come together in an advisory relationship
  • How advisors prepare for client, prospect, and center-of-influence meetings
  • How account onboarding, transfers, money movements, gifting, custodian workflows, and account maintenance operate
  • How advisors build trust, retain clients, and grow long-term relationships
  • How to use industry platforms, including CRM, custodial, and planning tools
  • How compliance, documentation, confidentiality, and data integrity shape the advisory process

What You'll Do

  • Support Wealth Advisors and their books of business by helping prepare for client, prospect, and center-of-influence meetings
  • Help create and update client wealth plans, meeting materials, presentations, and required paperwork
  • Support inbound wealth planning tasks and participate in the Wealth Advisory Committee and Sales Committee
  • Help onboard new clients by preparing account-opening documents and coordinating with clients, advisors, and custodians for an accurate and efficient onboarding process
  • Learn the operational foundation of wealth management by working with custodial platforms such as Schwab and Fidelity to support account openings, money movements, gifting, transfers of assets, and account maintenance
  • Maintain internal client files and help ensure client data is current, accurate, and consistent across technology platforms
  • Work with related professional advisors, including CPAs, estate attorneys, insurance agents, and other centers of influence
  • Help coordinate advisor and client workflows, including meeting preparation, scheduling, follow-up tracking, and ensuring advisors have the information needed to deliver a positive client experience
  • Support client retention by helping track client service standards and prompting follow-up
  • Monitor publications and public information to identify prospective clients, client-relevant developments, and potential marketing or networking opportunities
  • Begin developing professional networking skills and learn how advisors build long-term relationships with clients, prospects, and centers of influence
  • Understand and follow our compliance, confidentiality, and client-service responsibilities

What You'll Bring

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business, accounting, or a related field
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Interest in wealth management, financial planning, investments, or client advisory work
  • Professional judgment and discretion with confidential client information
  • Comfort learning new technology platforms and workflows
  • Work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment

Helpful, but not required:

  • Internship, coursework, or student-organization experience related to finance, investments, accounting, economics, client service, sales, or business development
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint
  • Exposure to CRM systems, Salesforce, Tamarac, Schwab, Fidelity, WebEx, or financial planning software
  • Presentation experience through coursework, internships, athletics, clubs, or prior work experience

Career Path and Development

This role is intended to be a launch point into wealth management. Over time, you may develop toward more senior independent wealth advisory positions. You will receive hands-on training in client service, financial planning workflows, custodial platforms, CRM systems, compliance, advisor preparation, and professional communication.

You will gain exposure to the full client-service lifecycle and learn how a high-performing advisory team serves clients, manages relationships, and grows the business over time.

What We Offer

  • Great office locations in downtown Portsmouth and Portland
  • Annual base salary of $60,000 plus bonus plan
  • Excellent benefits, including health, dental, and vision insurance
  • HSA and FSA options
  • 401(k)
  • Employer-paid life and disability insurance
  • Generous PTO plan
  • Bi-annual company events
  • Mentorship from experienced advisors and client-service professionals
  • Exposure to client meetings and advisory work early in your career
  • Training on wealth management platforms and workflows
  • Supportive team environment with a clear path for professional growth
