The role partners closely with Distribution Center Operations, Finance, Supply Chain, Loss Prevention, IT, Merchandising, and Customer Care to identify and resolve inventory discrepancies, support operational efficiency, and maintain alignment across systems and processes. The Inventory Control & Accuracy Manager also serves as the primary site contact for inventory audits, SOX compliance activities, and inventory reporting.

This position requires strong analytical capability, operational leadership, systems knowledge, and the ability to lead teams in a fast-paced distribution environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the Inventory Control department, including staffing, scheduling, workload prioritization, and performance management.
  • Oversee inventory accuracy processes including cycle counts, bin audits, location audits, order audits, and inventory reconciliation activities.
  • Manage processes related to inventory shrink, damages, expired product, and inventory adjustments.
  • Review and approve significant inventory adjustments and investigate root causes of discrepancies.
  • Determine when wall-to-wall physical inventories are required and coordinate execution activities.
  • Maintain inventory integrity across warehouse management and inventory systems to ensure accurate inventory visibility and availability.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures related to inventory movement, adjustments, counting processes, and inventory controls.
  • Establish and maintain inventory control processes that support compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements and company policies.
  • Serve as the Distribution Center point of contact for internal audits, external audits, and Finance-related inventory inquiries.
  • Ensure inventory adjustment controls, access controls, approval processes, and audit documentation are maintained and compliant.
  • Support product recall, market withdrawal, regulatory, quality, and safety-related inventory processes as required.
  • Partner with Finance and Operations leadership to ensure inventory-related reporting and controls are accurate and audit-ready.
  • Develop and maintain inventory reporting and performance metrics related to inventory accuracy, shrink, damages, expiration, and operational trends.
  • Analyze inventory discrepancies and identify root causes through data analysis and operational review.
  • Provide regular reporting and insights to Distribution Center leadership and Finance teams.
  • Monitor inventory control KPIs and recommend corrective actions to improve inventory performance and reduce loss exposure.
  • Support operational decision-making through accurate inventory analysis and reporting.
  • Partner with Operations, Finance, IT, Supply Chain, Loss Prevention, Customer Care, Merchandising, and other business partners to resolve inventory issues and improve inventory accuracy.
  • Collaborate with operational leaders to address process gaps impacting inventory integrity.
  • Support testing, validation, and implementation activities related to inventory system enhancements or process changes.
  • Communicate inventory risks, trends, and operational concerns to site leadership in a timely manner.
  • Lead, coach, and develop Inventory Control team members and supervisors.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and accountability standards for the department.
  • Support training and development initiatives related to inventory processes, systems, and controls.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, accuracy, teamwork, and operational discipline.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • 5+ years of inventory control, warehouse operations, or supply chain experience preferred.
  • Prior leadership experience within a distribution or warehouse environment required.
  • Experience supporting inventory audits, cycle count programs, and inventory reconciliation processes preferred.
  • Strong understanding of inventory control principles, inventory accuracy practices, and warehouse operations.
  • Knowledge of inventory audit processes, internal controls, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience working with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), ERP systems, and inventory reporting tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data and identify trends.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to lead teams, drive accountability, and develop talent.
  • Strong decision-making and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate across departments and operational levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance operational urgency with compliance and accuracy expectations.
