The Senior Manager of Social is a key leader on the Social team, responsible for shaping and executing social programming strategy while managing the programming team. This role oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of social programming across editorial, branded, and marketing priorities, ensuring timely, high-quality launches across platforms. Working closely with the Head of Social, the Senior Manager drives audience growth and brand impact through smart, data-informed programming that breaks through algorithms. The ideal candidate is deeply plugged into culture and entertainment, brings strong platform expertise, and leverages trends, audience behavior, and talent-driven moments to package compelling social storytelling that expands the reach and cultural relevance of The Shop.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee social marketing planning, categorization, and programming for priority Originals project, with The Shop serving as the primary focus and supporting other Original and Studio IP as business priorities require. This includes, but is not limited to, asset timecoding, creative direction and packaging, asset creation workflows, and copywriting.
  • Partner with Social Programmer(s) and Producer(s) to support daily operations, optimize publishing workflows, and assist with publishing execution as needed.
  • Own and maintain social programming and the master social calendar while ensuring social strategy is implemented across all social touchpoints, including original social content and branded social content.
  • Lead YouTube programming integrating best-in-class practices, including but not limited to thumbnail ideation and optimization, title and description strategy, YouTube Shorts, and Community initiatives.
  • Work closely with the Head of Social and showrunners to build social content strategy for The Shop and provide strategic support across additional brand channels and franchises as needed.
  • Advise the Head of Social on cultural and social media trends, platform best practices, and emerging opportunities to inform the creative direction of our content and how we approach each social media platform.
  • Serve as the QC lead on all programming assets published to our platforms to ensure content aligns with the overall creative tone, look, feel, and voice for The Shop and any assigned franchise or branded partner requirements.
  • Work closely with leadership and the strategy team to ensure channels are driving growth, engagement, and retention through the lens of culture, sports and entertainment.
  • Monitor and analyze performance across all programming assets once live, surfacing actionable insights and optimization opportunities.
  • Liaise across major content teams to ensure assets and content are posted at the correct times with the appropriate messaging, graphics, and platform specifications.
  • Consult and collaborate with all involved content teams to ensure social audience considerations and digital distribution are top of mind, while helping scale best practices across the broader content portfolio when needed.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • 6+ years of full-time professional experience in social media, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
  • Demonstrated success leading multi-platform social strategies and campaigns across editorial, branded, and promotional content, from concept through execution and performance optimization.
  • Deep expertise across social platforms including YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, X, Threads, and emerging platforms, with strong understanding of platform algorithms, content formats, and distribution strategies.
  • Strong experience developing and executing social programming strategies, including building content calendars and episodic programming that drive sustained audience engagement across platforms.
  • Experience developing social-first content strategies around premium video, sports and culture storytelling, talent-driven programming, and culturally relevant conversations.
  • Strong ability to translate insights and analytics into actionable programming strategies, including reporting on performance and identifying growth opportunities.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the ability to clearly articulate creative ideas, social strategies, and performance insights to cross-functional stakeholders and senior leadership.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-department collaboration, working effectively with editorial, production, marketing, partnerships, and talent teams.
  • Strong organizational and operational skills with experience managing complex content calendars, campaign timelines, and multiple simultaneous projects.
  • Deep knowledge of sports, athlete culture, entertainment, music, fashion, and internet conversation, with exceptional instincts for culturally relevant storytelling, social trends, and moments that drive audience engagement. Candidates should be highly plugged into what people are talking about, both online and offline, and understand how to translate those conversations into compelling social content.
  • A genuine passion for sports and culture, with a strong understanding of the personalities, narratives, and moments that shape the modern sports and entertainment landscape.
  • Direct relationships with platform partners is a plus.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite applications such as Premiere and Photoshop is a major plus.
  • Willingness to work occasional nights and weekends around launches, tentpole programming, live events, and culturally significant moments.
