Safety & Health Manager – Distributed Energy – IN Location: Winamac, IN, US Company: Black & Veatch Corporation Key Responsibilities Implement, administer and maintain project Drug and Alcohol Substance Abuse Program. Develop and conduct employee safety and health training programs. Conduct detailed site safety and health inspections. Manage project security contracts, programs and policies. Perform record keeping and filing functions. Conduct incident and injury/illness investigations and write detailed reports. Complete all appropriate company safety and health program documents. Interface with clients and government officials. Manage construction contractor safety and health program administration. Administer project worker's compensation programs and procedures. Act as Safety and Health Consultant to internal and external clients. Serve as on-site first aid and medical provider. Provide supervision, training, development, and performance management of direct reports. Support continuous improvement efforts and change management associated with the implementation of improvements. Supervise Safety and Health Intern, Safety and Health Specialist 1, 2, and 3. Minimum Qualifications 5+ years safety and health experience. All applicants must be able to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements, which may include criminal or civil background checks, drug screening, and motor vehicle records searches, in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Preferred Qualifications OSHA 30‑hour training and one of the following: Professional safety certification from an industry‑recognized safety organization; or A college degree in a safety‑related field and at least two years of demonstrable safety management experience; or At least five years of increasing responsibility in professional, technical, safety management and/or electric utility operations experience. Current certification in administration of First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Training. Incident investigation training and experience. Certifications First Aid, CPR Drug testing certified OSHA 500/501 Safety and Health Program Administration OSHA 10 hour Physical Demands Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds. Stand, kneel, bend, stoop, move, and walk long distances in and around confined, cluttered places and uneven areas. See and hear naturally or with correction. Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with job duties. Use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls according to a set procedure. Perform repetitive movements. May require work above 5 feet in height. Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds. Work up to 12‑hour shifts doing hard physical labor in varying temperature extremes and outdoor conditions. Work Environment Typical construction site environment. Working in cramped work spaces and awkward positions. Exposure to very hot (above 90 °F) or very cold (below 32 °F) temperatures and inclement weather such as dust, wind, snow, and rain. Exposure to bright or low lighting conditions. Exposure to sounds and noise levels that may be distracting or uncomfortable. Work around hazardous equipment. Typical office environment.
