Develop designs for complex engineering systems. Prepare drawings and technical reports. Participate in the development of design standards and procedures. Perform technical review of design documents and specifications. Provide engineering services support to construction activities. Prepare and review design standards and procedures. Prepare construction installation specifications and details. Prepare procurement specifications and bid analysis. Review and approve Design Change Forms. Resolve existing design discrepancies with the most cost effective approach to meet design criteria. Initiate Design Change Forms and coordinate with Subcontractors or other responsible group for approval/incorporation. Provide dispositions to Nonconformance Reports and Field Problem Memos by determining a solution to the condition which will satisfy design criteria. Perform inspections by facilities, systems, or components as required for proper evaluation of conditions. Review construction procedures to ensure compliance with design engineering criteria and applicable codes. Perform in-depth analyses of advanced technical concepts and devises new approaches to technical problems. Work Hours Up to a 40-hour work week is scheduled. SRNS utilizes various work schedules including 5/8s (8 hours/day; five days per week), 4/10’s (10 hours/day; four days per week), and 9/80’s (9 hours/day, five days on week AA and four days on week BB. Work week excludes SRNS holidays. Each workday has 30-minute lunch. Overtime will be expected at times to meet deliverables and will be utilized at the discretion of the Manager. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Education An associates degree in a technical discipline and at least 10 - 12 years work experience or 12 - 16 years of practical work experience. Position Specific Required work experience shall include at least 8 years of experience as an Electrical Designer Experience/Skills Provide Electrical Designer staff augmentation support to SRNS. Primary duties include design development, and generation of design output documents in the following areas: Equipment Layout Grounding Raceway Layout Lighting Systems Schematics Connection and Wiring Diagrams Candidate must demonstrate working knowledge of National Census Codes and Standards for electrical design such as IEC, NEC, NFPA, NEMA, IEEE, and OSHA. Significant recent, with-in the last 5 years, experience with 2D MicroStation Computer Aided Drafting and Design is required. Candidate must be able to perform field walk-downs of the job site for the engineering work being performed. These walk-downs may involve construction sites with uneven surfaces and work in progress, walking for distances over a half mile, climbing ladders to access remote areas, and dressing out in protective clothing. OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Area Security Access Clearance “Q” required. Subcontractor must have an active eFOCI registration and approved Facility Level Clearance with DOE / NNSA PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Possession of an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past (2) years is preferred.
