Afterschool Program Specialist Del Valle Independent School District Student and Family Support Services - Del Valle, Texas Job ID: 5759107 Posted: Jun 03, 2026 5:00 AM (UTC) Application Deadline: Posted until filled Starting Date: Jul 6, 2026 Primary Purpose The Afterschool Program Specialist supports the planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of high-quality afterschool programming across Del Valle ISD campuses. This position collaborates closely with the Director of Afterschool Programs to ensure programs are safe, engaging, and aligned with district goals. The Specialists assist in developing enrichment opportunities, monitoring program effectiveness, and providing campus-level support to ensure students benefit from structured, meaningful learning experiences beyond the school day. The Afterschool Program Specialist should have strong organizational and administrative skills, good interpersonal and communication skills, good writing and computer skills, and experience in youth and family services, public education, or recreation. Education & Certification Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university (preferred) Texas Teaching Certification (preferred) College coursework in education or youth issues (preferred) Experience coordinating vendors/partners, MOUs, and deliverables (preferred) Demonstrated proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Forms, Slides) and Canva Strong organizational and communication skills Candidate must have a satisfactory outcome of a fingerprinting background check. visits across multiple campuses; supports operations, schedules, staffing coverage, and program delivery Conduct site visits to evaluate program quality and provide feedback and support Develop systems and structures to ensure safe, organized, and engaging program environments Collaborate with campus staff to ensure alignment with district expectations Apply positive youth development practices (belonging, leadership, SEL, trauma‑informed approaches) Curriculum & Enrichment Review and develop curriculum for Enrichment Program Specialists Support implementation of engaging, hands‑on enrichment activities Ensure programming supports student growth, creativity, and exploration Professional Development Support continuous improvement through coaching and feedback Develop resources and tools to strengthen program implementation Assist the director in developing and delivering curricula and other resources (such as speakers/trainers and supplies) for sites Program Compliance & Operations Support adherence to grant requirements and district policies Assist in maintaining accurate records, documentation, and reporting Monitor program operations to ensure consistency and quality Work with the director to provide monthly budget updates to sites All other duties as assigned by the Project Director Events & Programming Assist in planning and executing district‑wide enrichment events Support coordination of special programs, showcases, and student experiences Be available to work flexible hours to accommodate evening and weekend activities Communications & Marketing Create flyers and digital communications for afterschool programs Develop and manage social media content to highlight program success Use Google tools (Forms, Sheets, Docs) for communication, data collection, and organization Family Engagement Plan, coordinate, and implement the Family Engagement Program in a manner consistent with the Texas ACE guidelines Support implementation of one family engagement activity per site each month, aligned to 21st CCLC/Texas ACE expectations and campus needs Provide coaching and technical assistance to the Enrichment Program Specialist on planning, outreach, and execution of monthly events to increase participation and consistency across sites Collaborate with the Director and Enrichment Specialist to plan and execute district‑wide family activities Plan and organize Family Support Service workshops Community Engagement Build connections between the school, the community learning centers, and community partners to support implementation of high‑quality academic and enrichment activities, family engagement opportunities, and program sustainability Oversee and support the voluntary Texas ACE steering committee Accelerated Learning Collaborate with campuses to align afterschool support with instructional goals Oversee implementation of High‑Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM), High‑Impact Tutoring (HIT), and other school‑day aligned academic support that targets student needs and promotes growth Aid in aligning enrichment and family engagement with academic support (selection, design, and evaluation of activities for students) Summer Learning Oversee planning and compliance for grant‑funded summer learning/enrichment programs Develop a summer program plan that meets 21st CCLC/Texas ACE requirements, including schedules, staffing patterns, enrollment targets, and daily minutes/dosage Provide summer site readiness support: materials procurement, vendor/partner coordination, transportation/arrival‑dismissal procedures, and operations checklists Ensure summer family engagement efforts are implemented and documented (if required), including communication, event planning, and reporting Qualities of Effective Enrichment Program Specialists Student‑centered mindset with a passion for enrichment and whole‑child development Creative, flexible, and proactive approach to program development Commitment to equity and access for all students Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job Complies with District policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations Complies with the standards of conduct set out in Board Policy DH (Legal) and (Local) and with any other policies, regulations, and guidelines that impose duties, requirements, and standards Supervisory Responsibilities Provides coaching, monitoring, and performance feedback in coordination with the Project Director Collaborate with the Director of Afterschool Programs on staffing, program evaluation, and continuous improvement efforts Equipment Personal computer, printer, calculator, telephone, copier, fax machine, shredder, and other equipment associated with the position Work is performed in a standard office environment The incumbent has the ability to use a defibrillator Working Conditions Work irregular and extended work hours Work with frequent interruptions and maintain emotional control under stress Position may require periods of sitting at the computer and standing at the copier Some lifting of boxes is required Use of a vehicle is
