Truck Driver/Laborer
The Town of Farmington, New Hampshire, is seeking a dependable and motivated individual to fill the full-time position of Truck Driver/Laborer within the Highway Department. This position performs a variety of duties related to road maintenance, construction, snow and ice control, equipment operation, and general public works activities.
The ideal candidate will be safety-conscious, reliable, and able to work effectively as part of a small municipal team in all weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate dump trucks, plow trucks, sanders, loaders, backhoes, and other highway equipment
- Perform snow and ice removal operations, including night, weekend, and holiday storm response
- Assist with road maintenance, drainage work, grading, ditching, patching, and culvert installation
- Perform manual labor including shoveling, lifting, raking, brush cutting, and sign maintenance
- Conduct routine equipment inspections and minor maintenance
- Assist with roadside mowing, tree and brush removal, and grounds maintenance
- Follow all safety procedures and departmental policies
- Respond to emergencies and other public works needs as assigned
What We're Looking For:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Valid CDL Class B license preferred or ability to obtain within 1 year of hire
- Experience operating heavy equipment and commercial trucks preferred
- Mechanical aptitude and municipal/public works experience desirable
- Ability to perform physically demanding work in varying weather conditions
- Must be able to participate in on-call and winter operations schedules
- Flagger certification, chainsaw safety training, or related certifications are a plus
Starting Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 upon experience
Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week, (usually) Monday -Friday Location: Farmington, New Hampshire
