Lyft is looking for a Paralegal II to join its Legal Team. Working closely with Lyft’s in‑house counsel and paralegal team, you will investigate and respond to claims; conduct factual investigations; attend hearings and fact‑finding conferences; support administrative tracking of case‑related matters; and keep Lyft’s employment and litigation operations efficient and organized. Responsibilities Works closely with Lyft's in‑house counsel Litigation & Employment team to support administrative, pre‑litigation and litigation matters, as well as external legal requests. Manages, tracks, calendars, and files responses to claims. Independently conducts factual investigations to respond to administrative claims, demand letters, and other litigation and arbitration matters, and assists with drafting responses for these matters. Prepare memoranda and summaries of factual research and make recommendations to supervising attorneys. Assist with gathering documents and information to respond to discovery or information requests. Complete court or agency filings and attend court appearances or agency hearings. Think proactively about improving processes to help Lyft’s legal operations continue to scale effectively with incredible growth. Liaise with other teams within the company and external parties to ensure efficient workflow and handling of requests. Provide legal support to in‑house attorneys, paralegals, and various internal business partners to ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures. Help define procedures and practices within Legal to promote efficient workflows and handling of legal requests. Maintain overall governance of existing processes and strategies. Liaise with internal and external counsel and contacts on a day‑to‑day basis. Lead projects and tasks within a broader legal strategy in collaboration with other team members. Experience JD or Paralegal certificate is not required. Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of relevant legal experience; law firm experience preferred. Experience handling discovery in complex litigation matters. Ability to obtain a notary license. Strong oral and written communication skills.Exceptionally organized and efficient. Ability to operate in a fast‑paced environment. Proficiency working in a Mac environment, specifically with Google Apps (Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Sheets, etc.), Excel, and Word, and familiarity with various e‑discovery tools. The expected base pay range for this position in the New York City area is $88,000‑$110,000. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location.
