Position Summary

The Housekeeping & Laundry Aide plays a vital role in supporting our mission by ensuring resident rooms, common areas, linens, and personal clothing are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and presentation.

This position is responsible for performing housekeeping and laundry services in accordance with facility policies, infection prevention practices, resident rights, and federal and state regulations governing skilled nursing facilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Housekeeping Responsibilities

  • Clean, sanitize, and maintain resident rooms, bathrooms, nursing stations, offices, therapy areas, dining rooms, hallways, and common areas.
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, polish, and disinfect surfaces according to facility schedules and procedures.
  • Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces and shared equipment.
  • Empty trash and regulated waste containers in accordance with facility procedures.
  • Replenish paper products, soap, sanitizer, and other supplies as needed.
  • Maintain housekeeping carts, equipment, and storage areas in a clean and organized condition.
  • Identify and report maintenance concerns, damaged equipment, safety hazards, or environmental concerns.
  • Follow isolation precautions and infection prevention protocols when cleaning resident areas.

Laundry Responsibilities

  • Collect, sort, wash, dry, fold, and distribute resident clothing, linens, towels, and facility laundry.
  • Ensure resident clothing is properly labeled and returned to the correct resident.
  • Operate washers, dryers, and other laundry equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Follow procedures for handling contaminated or infectious laundry.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization within the laundry department.
  • Monitor laundry supplies and notify supervisors of inventory needs.
  • Assist in maintaining adequate linen supplies throughout the facility.

Resident Service Responsibilities

  • Treat residents, families, visitors, and coworkers with courtesy, dignity, and respect.
  • Support a resident-centered environment that promotes independence, choice, and quality of life.
  • Respect resident privacy and confidentiality at all times.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to resident requests within the scope of the position.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with residents and interdisciplinary team members.

Safety and Regulatory Compliance

  • Follow all Mountain View policies, OSHA requirements, infection prevention standards, and safety procedures.
  • Utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when required.
  • Immediately report accidents, injuries, unsafe conditions, and concerns regarding resident welfare.
  • Report suspected abuse, neglect, exploitation, or misappropriation of resident property in accordance with facility policy.
  • Participate in emergency preparedness drills, in-service education, and mandatory training programs.
  • Support compliance with CMS regulations and Montana state licensing requirements.

Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.

Experience

  • Previous housekeeping, environmental services, or laundry experience helpful, but not required.
  • Healthcare, long-term care, or skilled nursing experience helpful, but not required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to safely operate housekeeping and laundry equipment.
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and sanitation practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to excellent customer service and resident satisfaction.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, twisting, pushing, pulling, and lifting.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures and around cleaning agents and laundry equipment.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks throughout the workday.

Working Conditions

  • Skilled nursing and rehabilitation environment.
  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals, detergents, bodily fluids, and infectious materials.
  • May be required to work weekends, holidays, and flexible schedules based on facility needs.
