Job description

We are looking for a talented Production Scheduling Coordinator - Level III to join our team specializing in Supply Chain Planning for our Cummins Inc. facility in North Charleston, SC.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Deliver reliable, customer-focused production schedules by aligning demand, sales forecasts, capacity, and new business opportunities under minimal supervision.

  • Optimize end-to-end material flow by coordinating raw material, work-in-process, and finished goods strategies with Materials, Operations, and Customer Service.

  • Support a safe and compliant work environment by adhering to HSE standards, reporting incidents or hazards, and actively participating in required training.

  • Strengthen quality outcomes by following standard work and quality procedures, performing master data checks, and supporting Plan for Every Part (PFEP) accuracy.

  • Enable on-time delivery by creating realistic daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules and managing approved changes within established time fences.

  • Minimize production risk by proactively identifying and addressing constraints such as downtime, material shortages, bottlenecks, and routing or kitting issues.

  • Drive schedule attainment by analyzing performance data, communicating effectively with cross-functional partners, and holding Logistics and Operations teams accountable.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement by participating in quality, safety, process, and material flow initiatives while maintaining flexibility to meet evolving business needs.

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Leverage the materials planning system as the primary tool to balance supply and demand, resolve exception messages through root cause analysis, and support informed decision-making.

  • Manage part change control activities by evaluating and implementing engineering changes while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory and protecting customer delivery commitments.

  • Apply Plan for Every Part (PFEP) principles, to ensure the right part is available at the right time, quantity, and location across the end-to-end supply chain.

  • Translate master production and demand plans into effective capacity strategies by identifying constraints, evaluating options, and negotiating schedule or resource adjustments to meet ATP commitments.

  • Drive supply chain performance by establishing and maintaining a valid master production schedule, interpreting materials KPIs, and balancing trade-offs to improve operational and customer outcomes.

Education/Experience

  • High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.

  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

  • Requires significant relevant work experience or specialized skills obtained through education, training, or on-the-job experience in an equivalent field such as materials planning, production scheduling, manufacturing, or inventory control.

  • 5-7 years of relevant work experience is preferred.

Additional Information

Core Responsibilities

  • Execute daily and weekly production schedules to align with customer demand, operational capacity, and business priorities.

  • Manage work order prioritization based on component availability, constraints, and changing production needs to maintain schedule adherence.

  • Monitor schedule performance and proactively identify risks (e.g., material shortages, capacity constraints), coordinating with cross-functional teams to resolve issues quickly.

  • Maintain accuracy of scheduling data in ERP/planning systems and ensure alignment between system outputs and shop floor execution.

  • Communicate schedule changes, priorities, and risks clearly to operations, supply chain, and leadership stakeholders.

Desired Skills, Education & Experience

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret production, inventory, and scheduling data.

  • Proficiency in ERP systems and/or planning tools, with experience managing schedules or work orders in a manufacturing or supply chain environment.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across operations, materials, and leadership teams.

  • High school diploma or associate degree required; bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, or engineering preferred.
