Job Description
Our Client is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to play a crucial part in supporting their attorneys and clients in all aspects of litigation related to tax and consumer law.
The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, possess excellent organizational skills, and have a strong understanding of legal procedures and terminology.
Responsibilities :
- Assist attorneys in preparing and filing legal documents, including complaints, motions, subpoenas, and briefs related to tax litigation cases.
- Conduct thorough legal research using various resources to support case preparation and strategy.
- Manage case files, organize documents, and maintain electronic databases to ensure efficient retrieval and storage of information.
- Coordinate communication with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel regarding case updates, scheduling, and document exchanges.
- Prepare and coordinate discovery requests, responses, and document productions.
- Assist in preparing attorneys for depositions, hearings, trials, and other legal proceedings by organizing exhibits, drafting witness outlines, and managing logistical arrangements.
- Provide administrative support such as scheduling meetings, managing calendars, and processing billing and expenses related to litigation matters.
- Stay current with developments in tax law and procedural rules to assist attorneys in case analysis and strategy formulation.
- Collaborate with other members of the legal team to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of tasks.
- Bachelor's degree or paralegal certification from an accredited institution.
Experience / Skills :
- Prior experience working as a litigation paralegal, preferably in a tax law practice or related field.
- Strong understanding of legal principles, procedures, and terminology, with specific knowledge of tax law preferred.
- Proficiency in legal research tools such as Westlaw or LexisNexis.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other relevant software applications.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the evolving needs of a startup law firm.
