Job description

Market Advanced Manufacturing

At Jacobs, we're challenging today to reinvent tomorrow by solving the world's most critical problems for thriving cities, resilient environments, mission-critical outcomes, operational advancement, scientific discovery and cutting-edge manufacturing, turning abstract ideas into realities that transform the world for good.

Your impact

This job opportunity is available at ANY location in the United States. Ideally, selected candidates will be near a JACOBS U.S. based office, but we intend to hire the "best" candidates.

At Jacobs, we drive to make a positive impact on people’s lives everywhere by bringing solutions and adding value to our communities and society as a whole. From facilities delivering life-saving therapies and ensuring clean water to enabling the connection of people through all modes of transportation and providing access to technology – we're integrating a multitude of these solution elements to build the smart environments of tomorrow. Grow your career with Jacobs, a company that inspires and empowers you to deliver your best work so you can evolve, grow, and succeed – today and into tomorrow.

As an Electrical Engineer in our Advanced Manufacturing group, you’ll contribute to projects that enable the heart of our clients’ successful data center facilities engineering, design and construction. In this role, you will have the chance to work on projects including engineering and design of data centers and other mission-critical facilities. This position is location flexible in the U.S.

You’ll provide design work, contribute to team technical collaboration, perform quality reviews of design packages, and assist directly with other portions of the design process. You may also interact directly with the client, owner, and contractors to assist construction on site. You and the other members of your electrical design team will work closely with the broader multi-discipline team in a fast paced, dynamic, collaborative environment to establish design requirements and produce construction documents. Your responsibilities will include engineering and design for data center facility power distribution systems, UPS, emergency systems, grounding, lighting, and low voltage communications systems in complex industrial facilities. Design may also include retrofit of existing building systems to accommodate our clients’ continually evolving requirements. Additional responsibilities may include the management of quality, scope, budget and schedule. Your role keeps our company connected and we’ll support you with what you need to be successful. Through mentorship and other career development opportunities, you’ll continue to grow and thrive.

Bring your curiosity, talent for multi-tasking and collaboration, and extreme organizational skills and we’ll help you pursue and fulfill what drives you. We can make big impacts on the world, together.

Here's what you'll need

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related discipline
  • 1 or more years' experience in engineering design of medium and low voltage distribution systems, building electrical systems, and campus-style power distribution including conveyance
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience with industrial facility design
  • Working knowledge of Revit or BIM software
  • Solid working knowledge of NFPA 70 (NEC) is preferred
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

Ideally, you’ll also have:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • At least 1 years of data center facility design experience
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Forward thinking, eager to learn best practices, and contribute with innovative ideas
  • Displayed ability to learn quickly and driven to broaden knowledge base
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively in a variety of teams, including multi-disciplinary teams
  • Passionate about buildings and construction
  • Experience in the design of large projects established on greenfield sites
