Job description

Unclaimed Property Fraud Examiner (Claims Representative 2) Position within the Trust Property Division of Oregon State Treasury. This role protects program integrity by investigating potential fraudulent unclaimed property claims and ensuring public funds are safeguarded. Compensation and Work Schedule Salary Range: $56,856 – $86,964 annually. Hybrid work schedule with a minimum of two in‑office days per week; one additional in‑office day each month for team meetings. During initial training, more frequent in‑office presence is expected. Duties and Responsibilities Conduct complex investigations into potentially fraudulent unclaimed property claims, including multistate and international cases. Develop and implement fraud‑detection and investigation processes and procedures. Collaborate with law enforcement, attorneys, and other state programs on fraud‑related matters. Serve as a subject‑matter resource for legal proceedings and fraud prevention efforts. Participate in fraud‑prevention initiatives with other states and NAUPA committees. Review internal controls to assess the effectiveness of fraud‑detection processes and recommend improvements. Verify and document key fraud‑related controls and evaluate risk‑mitigation measures. Coordinate with system vendors to identify and address system vulnerabilities related to fraud. Conduct KAPS system access audits and ensure proper documentation for system changes. Escalate questionable transactions for further review. Maintain professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Required Minimum Qualifications Three years of experience investigating, evaluating, and negotiating settlements of tort or property claims; or Two years of the above experience and 45 semester‑term post‑secondary credits in Business Management, Insurance, Law Enforcement, Pre‑Law, or Social Science; or One year of the above experience and a bachelor’s degree in an approved field.
