3 West (Medical/Telemetry)

3 west, the Medical/Telemetry unit of MUSC Orangeburg location is a 30-bed medical unit with remote telemetry treating acutely ill patients with medical problems related to renal disease, cardiac disease, respiratory disease, and other medical issues including post-surgical and dialysis patients. We value teamwork and strive to give the best possible care to each patient.

3 East (Telemetry)

The Telemetry unit of MUSC Orangeburg location is a 45-bed remote telemetry, stroke certified unit treating acutely ill patients with medical problems related to renal disease, cardiac disease, respiratory disease, and other medical issues including post-surgical and dialysis patients. We value teamwork and strive to give the best possible care to each patient.

Stepdown Unit

The MUSC Orangeburg Stepdown is a 15-bed adult intermediate care unit treating acutely ill patients with medical problems related to renal disease, cardiac disease, respiratory disease, and other medical issues including post-surgical and dialysis patients. The stepdown unit requires BLS upon hire and ACLS within 6 months of hire. Nurses on this unit manage medication drips such as insulin and cardiac medications per physician orders. NIHSS certification required after hire.

Emergency Department

The MUSC Orangeburg Emergency Department is a Level III Trauma Center with 43 treatment areas. We proudly serve the surrounding communities of Orangeburg, Calhoun, Bamberg, and Barnwell counties for all their acute healthcare needs. As a Registered Nurse within our department, you will have the opportunity to work alongside a diverse healthcare team that utilizes research and best practice to provide the utmost care for our patients. The ED will be accepting new graduates beginning employment in January 2027 or later.

Hours Per Week: 36

Scheduled Work Hours/Shift: 3–12-hour shifts. Shifts vary based on the needs of the department.

Job Summary/Purpose: Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse I (New Graduate) assists at the advanced beginner level in providing individualized, goal directed nursing care to patients and families utilizing principles and practices of the nursing process; interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired outcomes.

Minimum Training and Education: Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred. Associate's degree required. Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.

Required Licensure, Certifications, and Registrations: Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.

Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes. (Continuous) Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand or at a distance.
