Job Title Instructional Support Associate (SL-2) Location Binghamton, NY Salary $51,261 - $61,261 Job Summary The Binghamton University Libraries seek an innovative, collaborative, and proactive Media and Emerging Technologies Learning Specialist to support multimedia production, emerging technology services, and experiential learning. The Specialist will create a welcoming and inclusive environment that fosters creativity, collaboration, and hands‑on learning experiences for students, faculty, and staff across disciplines. Duties and Responsibilities Oversee day‑to‑day operations of library recording studios and related multimedia or emerging technology spaces, including management of facilities, services, equipment, technology, and supplies. Support MakerLab services and operations as needed, including during peak usage periods or when the MakerLab Coordinator is unavailable, assisting patrons with equipment, workflows, and space use. Plan and deliver workshops, consultations, classroom visits, and outreach activities that promote multimedia creation and technology‑enabled learning. Provide instructional and consultative support to students, faculty, staff, and library colleagues in the use of multimedia technologies and development of audiovisual and digital content, which may occasionally include evening and weekend hours. Collaborate with colleagues across the Libraries to support technology lending, MakerLab services, and the identification of technologies that support teaching, learning, research, and creative activity. Promote accessibility and inclusive design in multimedia creation and publishing, including captioning and related best practices, and maintain foundational knowledge of copyright and fair‑use considerations. Conduct routine maintenance and coordinate equipment installation, repair, and service. Evaluate and assess services through usage statistics, user feedback, and other assessment measures to support continuous improvement. Collaborate on outreach and marketing efforts to promote multimedia and emerging technology services across the University. Remain current on developments in multimedia production, creative technologies, and emerging technologies relevant to academic libraries. Submit mandatory and requested reports, documentation, and information in a timely manner. Serve as a resource for student employees and develop training, maintenance, and operational procedures to support effective and sustainable services. Serve as a positive champion for the Libraries, internally and externally, in alignment with the overall mission and current priorities. Participate in a work culture that promotes diversity and anti‑racism and actively works to eliminate or mitigate the effects of systemic racism and bias. Participate in library and University committees and external professional organizations as appropriate. Qualifications Bachelor's degree or higher. Experience supporting or using multimedia production technologies and/or digital media tools such as the Adobe Creative Cloud and digital audio workstations. Experience providing instruction, training, customer service, or user support in an educational, library, media, or technology environment. Project management, organizational, and problem‑solving skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in an academic library, higher education, or educational technology environment. Experience supporting multimedia production spaces, recording studios, maker spaces, or creative technology environments.
