Position Description Manhattan University is looking for the next Assistant Head Coach of the Cheerleading team. The Cheerleaders are a team which performs regularly at all home men's and women's basketball games, pep rallies, and other large, school-wide events, functions, or athletic events. They also attend NCA in Daytona, Florida. The Assistant Head Coach must maintain a safe environment for students to participate and be responsible for the recruitment of students and tryouts, weekly practices, choreography of routines, promoting school spirit, and representing Manhattan University in a positive and professional manner. This is a part-time position. Job Responsibilities Help oversee all aspects of the cheer program includingpractices, performances, competitions, travel, social media, andinjury prevention Coordination and ordering associated with the team, marketing,uniforms, and costumes, along with fundraising required by thegroup Assist in staying on track with budget and works towardgenerating revenue through fundraising and sponsorship Attend all home games for men’s and women’s basketball andother appearances as necessary Work in collaboration with the Pep Band and Dance Team coach toensure a high-level game-day experience Attend all travel functions i.e., MAAC Tournament andNationals Flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays, arerequired Requirements Bachelors degree required; in Education, Sports Management,Exercise Science, Communications, or a related field preferred Has the ability to organize and supervise a total cheerleadingprogram 1-3 years of progressively professional coaching experience,preferably in a college or university setting The assistant head coach must have substantial knowledge of thetechnical aspects of cheerleading and, at the same time, mustcontinue to examine new and creative ways to improve year overyear Excellent oral and written communication skills with soundjudgement and decision-making High energy and enthusiasm to work with students to propel themtoward success Current driver's license is preferred #J-18808-Ljbffr
