Job Overview The Reemployment Assistance (RA) Division (formerly Unemployment Insurance) is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to oversee and administer its Tax Services Program. This key management position provides strategic direction and operational oversight for a team of 15 employees located throughout the state and serves as a member of the RA Director's leadership and advisory team. As the Division's subject matter expert on unemployment insurance tax administration, the Tax Program Administrator is responsible for interpreting and applying federal and state laws, regulations, and policies to ensure program compliance and consistency. The position provides expert guidance and technical assistance to staff, employers, stakeholders, and the public on complex tax‑related matters. Responsibilities Direct the unemployment insurance tax audit program. Oversee investigations and the review of tax determinations. Represent the Division in administrative appeals and hearings. Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance program effectiveness and compliance. Ensure accurate and timely reporting to state and federal agencies. Develop policies, implement program initiatives, and support the Division's strategic goals. Ideal Candidate Will Possess Three or more years of supervisory or management experience, including leading geographically dispersed teams. Experience interpreting and applying federal laws, regulations, policies, or compliance requirements. Knowledge of unemployment insurance tax administration, unemployment insurance benefits, payroll tax systems, or related workforce programs. Experience with Lean principles, continuous improvement methodologies, or other operational efficiency initiatives. Experience managing audits, investigations, compliance programs, or regulatory processes. Successful Candidates Will Demonstrate Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with exceptional attention to detail. Ability to interpret and apply complex laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams. Ability to perform financial calculations, analyze tax‑related data, and evaluate compliance issues. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex information to diverse audiences. Strong organizational, leadership, and decision‑making abilities. Ability to build collaborative relationships with staff, employers, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
