Job description

Capital Projects & Contracts Manager

Protiviti is looking for a Manager to join our Capital Projects & Contracts group and support our growing Construction consulting offerings.

As a Manager, you'll partner with our clients to solve complex business problems and provide impactful advice and solutions. You'll develop lasting relationships with client personnel and further these relationships through quality product delivery. You'll foster a network within the business community and serve as an ambassador of Protiviti in the market. You will also be a mentor, trainer, and coach to Consultants and Senior Consultants as you facilitate the successful completion of project work plans.

What will help you be successful:

  • You understand how construction projects are planned, managed, monitored, and delivered, including the roles of owners, contractors, subcontractors, architects, engineers, and project controls teams.
  • You are familiar with key stages of the construction project lifecycle, including project planning, design, procurement, pre-construction, execution, commissioning, closeout, and post-project review.
  • You can assess construction project governance, project controls, cost management, schedule management, change order processes, contract administration, and contractor oversight.
  • You are comfortable reviewing construction documentation, including budgets, schedules, estimates, contracts, pay applications, change orders, requests for information, submittals, daily reports, and project status reports.
  • You understand common construction project risks, including cost overruns, schedule delays, scope changes, claims, incomplete documentation, safety or compliance issues, and contractor performance concerns.
  • You have experience auditing construction projects or capital programs by evaluating controls, testing compliance with contract terms, analyzing project data, and identifying opportunities to improve transparency, accountability, and performance.
  • You are familiar with construction, project management, and project controls tools such as Primavera P6, Procore, E-builder, Kahua, CMIC, Power BI, or similar platforms.
  • You can evaluate, summarize, and interpret project and financial data to communicate risks, trends, findings, and recommendations to project leadership and executive stakeholders.
  • You are passionate about building relationships with strategic clients and delivering practical, high-quality solutions on complex, multi-phase construction and capital project engagements.
  • You promote a positive team culture, support development opportunities for others, and enjoy coaching team members as they learn construction project management, auditing, and advisory concepts.

Do your talents include the following?

  • Demonstrated experience with construction and capital project processes such as:
    • Project planning, budgeting, forecasting, and cost management across the project lifecycle.
    • Contract strategy, procurement, and vendor selection (e.g., EPC, design-build, CM at-risk).
    • Contract administration, including change order management, claims mitigation, and dispute resolution.
    • Monitoring project performance against budgets, schedules, KPIs, and risk indicators.
    • Ensuring compliance with contract terms, safety regulations, environmental standards, and regulatory requirements.
    • Reviewing construction documentation, including drawings, specifications, schedules, and project controls reports.
    • Managing and evaluating contractor performance and subcontractor oversight processes.
    • Conducting audits of project controls, governance frameworks, and capital program management practices.
    • Identifying and mitigating risks related to cost overruns, delays, scope creep, and contractor disputes.
    • Coordinating across stakeholders (owners, contractors, engineers, and third-party vendors).
    • Managing project timelines, milestones, deliverables, and reporting to key stakeholders.
    • Supporting claims analysis, dispute advisory, and forensic review of project data.
    • Evaluating, summarizing, organizing, and interpreting data.
    • Establishing and cultivating business relationships and a professional network, including with senior executives.
    • Ability to translate and communicate issues, risk, or challenges to client personnel, including executives.
    • Leadership and direct supervisory experience of teams including conducting performance appraisals, mentoring and coaching, oversight and review of work, coordination across teams, and understanding how to motivate.

Your educational and professional qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline (e.g., Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related field).
  • 5+ years of experience in Consulting, Construction, Engineering, Project Controls, or Capital Project Management, within professional services or industry.
  • Experience with project management tools and construction systems (e.g., Primavera P6, Procore, e-Builder, Kahua, CMIC, or similar) is a plus.
  • Professional certifications such as PMP, CCM, PE, or similar are a plus.
