Job description
Description

The Fundraising Events Manager is an ambitious, revenue-focused leader who excels at cultivating and maintaining long-term relationships and partnerships that will grow Breastcancer.org’s base of philanthropic supporters through virtual and in-person events for our worldwide audience.

This position is responsible for coordinating all aspects of events including, but not limited to, Breastcancer.org signature events, corporate partner events, donor events, and community-based fundraising events and initiatives. This position carries direct accountability for driving revenue growth across these programs, ensuring each initiative generates maximum financial return, sponsor retention, and brand exposure in Breastcancer.org’s communities and beyond, while prioritizing repeatable, scalable models with multi-year, integrated partnerships.

The successful candidate will be confident and comfortable leading both internal and external stakeholder relationships and driven to deliver a high-touch, collaborative environment.

This position reports to the Director of Development and works collaboratively with teams across the organization in achieving program goals.

Core Responsibilities

Fundraising Event Operations and Revenue Execution

  • Develop and implement a strategic plan to execute an annual slate of events including, but not limited to, Breastcancer.org signature events, corporate partner events, donor events, and community-based fundraising events and initiatives, to achieve fundraising goals.
  • Identify key market areas for growth. Develop and execute tactics for increasing program participation, local and national sponsorship opportunities, revenue growth, community awareness, and volunteer/fundraiser engagement.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the development team, executive staff, and events committees in the effective development and execution of events. Develop and manage event committees and volunteers.
  • Develop corporate and business relationships along with the solicitations of monetary and in-kind support for sponsorships, auctions, fundraising activities, event marketing, and outreach.
  • Manage logistics for each event including, but not exclusive of, event staging, promotion, entertainment, venue, food and beverage, prizes and awards, live and silent auctions, and raffles.
  • Work with Breastcancer.org’s communications department to market programs, facilitate event media coverage, and use email and social media tools to communicate with internal and external stakeholders. Ensure brand standards are met and consistently applied across all programs and related promotional material, especially when used externally by fundraisers and partners.

Additional Event Support

  • This position provides similar support to events hosted on Breastcancer.org’s behalf by corporate partners, as well as major donor events under the direction of the Director of Major Gifts.

Analysis & Reporting

  • Working with the Data & Analytics Specialist, establish and manage program budgets. Track P&L, monitor revenue pacing against goal. Maintain accurate financial records, and establish work plans and timelines.
  • Ensure implementation of timely data collection for each event/activity, including income/expense records and event coordinator/participant, donor, and volunteer information.
  • Provide timely event reporting, including interim progress reports, event ROI, and reconciliation. Lead evaluation of event efforts with internal and external stakeholders and identify opportunities to improve results.

Hours and Travel

  • This is a full-time position based in the Philadelphia, PA area.
  • Ability to travel to events both locally and nationally, as well as meetings with fundraisers, volunteers, and event partners.
  • Flexibility to work early mornings, late evenings, and occasional weekends due to the nature of our events.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4-6 years’ experience in nonprofit fundraising. Demonstrated ability to successfully execute a diverse range of fundraising events, including demonstrated ability to secure high-level event sponsorships.
  • Proven track record of driving year-over-year revenue growth across events, sponsorships, and fundraising campaigns.
  • Excellent relationship management and interpersonal skills: the ability to work and communicate effectively with partners, donors, volunteers, and staff; superior judgment and diplomatic skills; excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Enthusiasm, commitment to excellence, self-motivation, a professional demeanor, excellent organizational skills, and detail oriented. A collaborative, team-oriented attitude.
  • Confident communicator and project manager. Prior supervisor experience and strong leadership skills. Prior volunteer management experience.
  • An understanding of charitable giving legal guidelines, specifically as they relate to fundraising events.

  • Experience with email and social marketing promoting events and programs.
  • Strong knowledge and experience using social media to promote fundraising events. Experience using a graphic design program like Canva, preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
  • Commitment to Breastcancer.org’s mission and willingness to contribute beyond core responsibilities as the organization evolves.
