Job description

Temporary Position (9Months or Less) – $16.00 per Hour Employment starts 05‑15‑2026 through 09‑01‑2026. Background The mission of the Colorado Department of Natural Resources is to develop, preserve, and enhance the state’s natural resources for the benefit and enjoyment of current and future citizens and visitors. Assist the Property Technician with the daily maintenance and improvement of State Wildlife Areas in Rio Blanco County. Primary duties include but are not limited to noxious weed control; facility and equipment maintenance; fence repair and construction; mandatory big game animal checks; operating and maintaining vehicles, trailers, weed‑spraying equipment, ATVs, skid steers, excavators, tractors, power tools, chainsaws; handling animal carcasses; data recording and record keeping; interacting with and answering questions from hunters and anglers. This position will also assist District Wildlife Managers, Biologists, and other Property Technicians with wildlife management related tasks. Basic Requirements Must be 16 years of age or older Must have a current & valid driver’s license or reliable transportation The work-site will provide some uniform items, however the employee may be required to purchase limited uniform items at their own expense. Applicants may be subject to successful completion of a comprehensive background check. Must be willing and able to work 40 hours per week. Must be available to work varied shifts. Preference may be given to applicants with or working toward a Natural Resources degree or similar education. Ability to work with limited supervision and work well within a team. Must have ability to hike long distances with a pack. Must have ability to accomplish physically demanding tasks. Must possess a good attitude. Must possess enthusiasm for protecting Colorado’s resources. Must be willing and able to work outside which may involve inclement weather. Must be able to lift 50‑100 pounds repeatedly during the course of a workday.
