Lead the physics program behind high-quality, safe radiation therapy

We're partnering with a respected healthcare organization in Oregon to hire a Medical Physicist (Oncology) for a full-time, day-shift position. This is an exciting opportunity for a physicist who wants meaningful ownership over equipment performance, quality systems, and patient safety—while collaborating closely with Radiation Oncology, therapy teams, and leadership.

New grads with ~2 years of experience are strongly encouraged to apply.

In this role, you'll support safe, accurate radiation delivery and help maintain the department's technical excellence by:

  • Participating in simulation and low-dose-rate (LDR) brachytherapy support, as applicable
  • Serving as a key technical advisor to the Radiation Safety Officer; preference for candidates who can also assume Radiation Safety Officer responsibilities (dual-role)

What we're looking for

Technical and professional strengths

  • Strong clinical Radiation Oncology foundation and comfort with fast-moving clinical environments
  • Demonstrated ability in linac calibration and QA activities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, organization, and prioritization skills
  • Strong mathematical/computer background; confident with software tools and clinical interfaces
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating across departments
  • Exercises strong judgment and critical thinking; maintains reliable attendance

Required education & board certification

  • Master's or PhD in Medical Physics or related field
  • Board certification in Therapeutic Radiological Physics via ABR or certification through the American Board of Medical Physics (ABMP) in Radiation Oncology Physics

Experience

  • Preferred: ~5 years as a staff medical physicist with demonstrated Radiation Oncology experience
  • Also welcome: early-career candidates (including new grads with ~2 years experience)
  • Maintains certification with ABR and/or ABMP (as applicable)
  • Active membership in AAPM preferred/expected per client standards

Physical/role requirements

  • Extensive sitting with periodic standing/walking
  • May lift up to 20 lbs
  • Significant use of computer/phone/office equipment
  • Adequate visual acuity; ability to grasp/handle objects
  • Clear communication skills (reading, writing, speaking in person/by phone)
  • May require occasional off-site travel

Additional details

  • Retirement: 401(a) plan with 4% employer contribution plus up to an additional 2% employer match (position-dependent); 457 deferred-compensation and Roth options; 403(b) accounts
  • Paid time off up to 25 days a year, plus sick leave, bereavement, and jury-duty pay
  • Employer-paid basic life ($35,000) and AD&D ($35,000); short- and long-term disability
  • Tuition reimbursement plus BAH Family Scholarship Program
