As a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) at Bronson Methodist Hospital, you'll be an essential part of the care team, working alongside Registered Nurses to support patients throughout their hospital stay. From helping patients regain independence to providing comfort during challenging moments, your work directly contributes to exceptional patient care.

What You'll Be Doing

• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, eating, and mobility
• Obtain and document vital signs and other patient information
• Support patient admissions, transfers, and discharges
• Answer call lights and respond to patient needs
• Assist with patient transport, ambulation, and repositioning
• Prepare patients for procedures and testing
• Communicate patient observations and concerns to the nursing team
• Document patient care accurately within the electronic medical record
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized care environment
• Support patient safety initiatives and unit operations

What to Expect

This is a physically active, hands-on role where you'll spend much of your day working directly with patients and collaborating with the healthcare team.

You'll experience the fast pace of hospital care while helping patients through some of their most vulnerable moments. Every shift offers opportunities to learn, problem-solve, and make a differencewhether you're assisting with patient care, supporting a family member, or helping a patient take an important step in their recovery.

Orientation Requirement

Full-Time, Part-Time, and PRN team members must be able to commit to full-time orientation hours during the first 68 weeks of employment.

Orientation consists of three 12-hour day shifts (6:00 a.m. 6:30 p.m.) each week.

What Is Required (Education)

• High School Diploma or GED required

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous healthcare experience
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
• Basic medical terminology knowledge
• Experience working with patients or customers in a service-oriented environment

Additional Requirements

• BLS certification required by the end of orientation and maintained throughout employment
• Basic computer proficiency and ability to navigate electronic medical records
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, visitors, and members of the healthcare team
• Ability to safely lift, move, transfer, and assist patients as needed
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including lifting up to 50 pounds and assisting with patient movement and transfers
• Commitment to patient safety, infection prevention, and quality care standards
