Position Information Posting Number PG196093TM Position Number 25MR79 Position Type Temporary Essential Job Duties NC State University Libraries is seeking a graduate assistant to support work in the Special Collections Research Center’s (SCRC) Teaching and Outreach program at the D. H. Hill Jr. Library. This position provides hands-on experience with teaching and outreach using special collections materials, including archival materials and rare books. Additionally, the graduate assistant will be integrated into a team of library professionals to provide direct support to students and faculty across disciplines.
Under the supervision of the Teaching and Faculty Engagement Librarian, the student will:
- Manage planning logistics for teaching and outreach activities, including instruction sessions and outreach events.
- Prepare archival materials and supplies for instruction and outreach activities.
- Support SCRC librarians with archival research, item selection, and lesson plan design.
- Develop supporting materials such as research tutorials and materials lists.
The graduate assistant may also have the opportunity to:
- Support research consultations and reference requests with students
- Support outreach activities, including tabling events, pop-up exhibits, and workshops
This position is up to 20 hours per week. Some possible evening and weekend hours may be required, with advance planning and discussion with the supervisor.
