About the Organization Vienna Beef was founded in 1893. Austrian-Hungarian immigrants Emil Reichel and Samuel Ladany introduced their family frankfurter recipe at the legendary Columbian Exposition/World's Fair. The hot dog was a hit, and Vienna Beef was born. 125 years later, we're still making our sausages the old-fashioned way, with premium domestic beef and our original recipe, to the highest of quality standards. Duties and Responsibilities Set daily/weekly/monthly objectives and communicate them to employees Organize workflow by assigning responsibilities and preparing schedules Manage inventory of raw materials and finished product using ERP software Manage employees by training, coaching, counseling and disciplining in a union environment Complete administrative and operational paperwork in order to comply with USDA and FDA regulatory requirements with knowledge of SOP's, HACCP and GMP policies and programs Use analytical skills to monitor production output and check for compliance to specifications Submit reports on performance and progress Employ critical thinking and problem-solving skills, including ability to spot issues in efficiency/productivity and suggest improvements Ensure the safe use and operation of equipment and call for repairs if necessary Attendance Must arrive to work prior to scheduled start time. Must be dressed in proper uniform and PPE before reporting to duty. Participate in scheduled meetings and training programs Adhere to company's attendance policies. Physical Requirements Must be physically capable to work in current refrigerated environment conditions. Must be capable to work on the production floor. Must be capable to work the specified shift hours. Must be capable of lifting the minimum weight of 30 pounds. Cooperation Ability to cooperate with supervisor. Accept constructive criticism with an open mind. Develop spirit of cooperation with coworkers and employees. Communication Seek the guidance of your supervisor if in doubt of any circumstance or problem. Communicate with employees to promote efficiency and meet production and safety goals. Directly contact your supervisor an hour prior to start time if you cannot work a scheduled shift. Contact maintenance personnel when minor repairs to equipment are required. Contact maintenance personnel and supervisor when major repairs to equipment are required. Knowledge Commit to obtaining knowledge of company's sanitation procedures and inspection process. Qualify and comply with company's forklift training and operation policies. Commit to obtaining knowledge of finished product specifications. Commit to obtaining a working knowledge of all production equipment in department Understand and implement safety procedures and policies Equipment Rain suits; aprons; gloves; boots; eye protection; knives; scarabs; hooks; steels; steel mesh gloves and other Notice This job description is a general outline of duties and is subject to change at the discretion of the Operations Manager and Vice President of Production. This is a supervisory position. This position must be performed on site. Requirements and Qualifications Bachelor's Degree or 2+ years manufacturing plant experience in a supervisory role.
