Access Services and Technology Supervisor The Access Services and Technology Supervisor is the principal manager of the library’s Access Services unit and technology operations. This includes circulation, reserves, stack maintenance, student employee hiring, resource sharing, interlibrary loan, and addressing technology needs for the library’s public and staff areas. The role reports to the Director of Murphy Library and is responsible for opening/closing procedures, staff coverage, and enforcement of university and library policies. Key Responsibilities Supervise Access Services staff, unit operations, policies, and procedures. Oversee building opening/closing, staff coverage, scheduling, security, and advise the library director as needed. Maintain knowledge of trends and best practices related to access services and public‑facing technology. Serve as a campus resource for copyright and fair use guidance, advising the university community. Analyze and report on usage and unit statistics. Coordinate resource‑sharing delivery functions with external partners such as Winding Rivers and SCLS Delivery. Manage Access Services functions related to Alma and other integrated library software. Maintain evening and weekend coverage as required by operational hours and business needs. Complete installations of new computers for public and staff areas, covering CPUs, monitors, printers, CD‑ROMs, and barcode readers. Troubleshoot library desktop and laptop computers and printers in public and staff areas. Ensure all public area computers and printers are operational daily. Plan, execute, and maintain a cable management program throughout the library for staff and public areas. Report problematic ITS‑managed public computers to ITS. Install, test, inventory, and troubleshoot library‑related software and licenses. Maintain an inventory list of all library computing equipment. Perform routine maintenance on scanners and other equipment. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. Minimum of 2 years of relevant library experience. Knowledge of a variety of library technology and software applications (e.g., Alma, ILLiad). Team‑oriented with a record of success in supervising permanent, temporary, and part‑time employees. Strong administrative and office skills. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite or comparable software. Excellent oral and written communication skills with a commitment to high‑quality customer service, diplomacy, and conflict resolution. Ability to interpret employment policies and procedures. Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines. Self‑motivated with independent judgment. Skill in handling multiple projects simultaneously. Organizational and creative problem‑solving skills. Ability to work effectively in an environment that embraces diversity. Legally authorized to work in the United States and able to maintain that status throughout employment. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in an associated field. Professional experience in an academic library. Knowledge of UW systems and procedures. Alma Administrator Certification.
