Titans After School Program Instructor (1st and 2nd Grade)

Location: Fullerton, CA Department: Research Grant Employees Category: Instructor Job Type: Part-time Job Number: 03726 Titans After School Program Instructors work with a group of up to 25 students (1st & 2nd graders only). Daily tasks consist of but are not limited to: student supervision, tutoring, homework assistance, and educational enrichment and must be committed to being a constant presence during all hours of operation. Instructors must have high energy, excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to maintain a fun and organized atmosphere. Must be available to work five (5) days a week Monday through Friday 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. and Thursdays (Early Release Day) 12:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Note: District Minimum Days are scheduled throughout the year on Tuesdays: 12:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. *Please be aware that funding for this position is awarded through a Grant/Contract over a specified period. Employment for this position beyond the current Grant/Contract funding is contingent upon continued funding. Essential Duties Implements all Titans After School Program rules and procedures and displays professionalism at all times. Responsible for supporting their supervisor by following their directions. Communicates regularly with the Site Coordinator regarding all aspects of the program at the designated site. Follows chain of command when it comes to reporting any incidents or concerns at site. Responsible for clocking in/out on the site’s desktop computer, completing electronic timesheets, and approves own hours on TimeClock as scheduled bi-weekly. Attends all weekly staff meetings. Works collaboratively with all staff members Collects all attendance documents and any other documents needed at the end of programming daily. Provides students with educational enrichment, including positive youth development strategies, recreation, prevention activities, and the ability to teach youth positive life skills. Provides tutoring and homework assistance. Ensures the students receive constant supervision and provides a safe and supported environment at all times. Implements all Titans After School Program curriculum: Buena Park: Let’s Learn!, Meet the Masters, Math Readers, Battle of the Books, STEM, Comic Books. Must also implement any new curriculum that may be introduced during the school year (Training will be provided). Creates and implements an engaging educational curriculum every month upon approval of their direct supervisor. Responsible for any Titans After School Program property such as curriculum materials and electronics that have been given to them or checked out for use. Accurately tracks students’ progress using the programmatic protocol. May be asked to stay past the scheduled time when students are picked up past normal check-out time. Responsible for managing service learners, interns, and volunteers at the site. Responsible for checking their assigned Fullerton email on a weekly basis to ensure all trainings are up-to-date and completed by their deadline. Creating schedules and lesson plans for grade-specific activities Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age. Ability to solely manage a classroom of 20-25 1st and 2nd grade students. Understanding behavior management and effective disciplinary techniques. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Highly organized with exceptional interpersonal and partnering relationship skills. Ability to keep track of all curriculum and binders at the site. Enthusiastic and highly motivated with team-building skills. Excellent time management skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel) and Google Drive (i.e. Docs, Sheets). Must be flexible, team-oriented, child-focused, and want to make a difference in the lives of students. Education Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent. Physical Demands Prolonged sitting in front of computer. Walking, talking, hearing, pulling, bending, may carry 10-15 pounds of objects/material, not exposed to extreme noise level, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands or arms, stoop, kneel, taste or smell.
