Job description

Embark on a rewarding contract assignment supporting a high school student as a one-on-one Registered Nurse for the 26-27 school year. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful difference in a student's daily life, providing essential care and maintaining safety throughout the school day and bus rides. The student is paralyzed but cognitively high functioning, requires ventilation support, and benefits from compassionate, reliable nursing expertise.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Previous experience in a school setting preferred
  • Demonstrated experience with ventilator-dependent patients
  • Comfortable providing one-on-one care for students with physical disabilities
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with students, families, and school staff
  • Willingness to accompany the student on the school bus to and from school
  • Compassionate approach and commitment to upholding the student’s dignity and autonomy

Core Responsibilities:

  • Deliver one-on-one nursing care to a high school student throughout the school day (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday)
  • Assess and monitor medical needs, ensuring ventilation equipment is operating safely and effectively
  • Support the student with all necessary activities during transportation, in the classroom, and on campus
  • Administer medications, manage emergency situations, and perform health interventions as needed
  • Document care, maintain health records, and collaborate with educational and healthcare teams
  • Foster a positive, supportive environment that promotes the student’s independence and participation

Enjoy a consistent weekly schedule with 30 hours, and Wednesdays always off, providing you with a balanced routine during the school year.
