Pharmacy Director
The Pharmacy Director plays a critical leadership role in overseeing all pharmacy operations within a healthcare organization to ensure the safe, effective, and efficient delivery of pharmaceutical services. This position is responsible for developing and implementing strategic initiatives that align with organizational goals, regulatory requirements, and best practices in pharmacy care. The Pharmacy Director leads a multidisciplinary team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, compliance, and patient-centered care. They collaborate closely with clinical staff, administration, and external partners to optimize medication management and enhance overall healthcare outcomes. Ultimately, the role ensures that pharmacy services contribute to the highest standards of patient safety, quality, and operational excellence.
Minimum Qualifications :
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited institution.
- Current and unrestricted pharmacist license in the relevant state or jurisdiction.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive pharmacy experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.
- Comprehensive knowledge of pharmacy laws, regulations, and accreditation standards.
- Demonstrated experience in managing pharmacy operations within a healthcare setting.
Preferred Qualifications :
Board certification in a relevant specialty such as Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) or equivalent.Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field.Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems and pharmacy automation technologies.Proven track record of leading quality improvement initiatives and cost containment strategies.Strong background in clinical pharmacy services and interdisciplinary collaboration.Responsibilities :
Lead and manage all aspects of pharmacy operations, including staffing, budgeting, procurement, and inventory control.Develop and enforce policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations as well as accreditation standards.Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize medication therapy management and support clinical initiatives.Oversee the recruitment, training, and professional development of pharmacy staff to maintain a skilled and motivated team.Monitor and analyze pharmacy performance metrics to identify opportunities for improvement and implement corrective actions.Manage relationships with vendors, suppliers, and regulatory agencies to ensure seamless pharmacy operations.Drive initiatives to integrate technology and automation to enhance pharmacy workflow and patient safety.Participate in budget planning and financial management to ensure cost-effective pharmacy services.Serve as a key member of the healthcare leadership team, contributing to organizational strategy and quality improvement efforts.Skills :
