Project Environmental Coordinator

Job Description Project Environmental Coordinator 6 month contract Semora, NC A Project Environmental Coordinator assists Project Management and various Crafts and Departments as necessary to maintain environmental compliance. Under the direction of the Project Manager at the construction site, the successful incumbent will assist with all project site environmental compliance activities as required by government regulations, permits obtained by the Project Owner and delegated by contract to ZII, permits obtained by ZII, its affiliates or partnering companies, and other environmental requirements as may be approved by either the Project Manager or the Corporate Environmental Stewardship Team. Responsibilities Assists Project on compliance issues Assists implementation and update of the Site Environmental Management Plan Daily site inspections including preparation of daily reports or logs Assists with permit management and implementation Assist coordination of corrective action for compliance deficiencies Spill response and mitigation including assistance with incident reports Assist personnel orientation and training in environmental responsibilities Assist Project Management with Subcontractor environmental commitments and responsibilities Waste storage, handling, and disposal management assistance according to regulations Petroleum storage and handling oversight including fuel storage tanks, drums and containers, lubricants, and other petroleum by-products Assist with additional environmental responsibilities as may be required Assist with animal and endangered species control Assist with material recordkeeping and storage oversight including Flammable Storage Cabinets Others duties as assigned in support of the project or corporate initiatives Job Requirements High School Graduate or GED Personable and able to work with all levels of construction project crafts and management personnel to successfully coordinate and complete work requirements. Self-starter able to take charge with minimum supervision Advanced training or education in Environmental or Technical Field Knowledgeable of the many construction project site environmental compliance issues and applicable regulations including but not limited to Storm Water Best Management Practices; Spill Prevention and Management, wetlands, process water control, waste storage and disposal, and fuel storage Computer skills in MS Office Suite: Word, Excel, etc... Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering or in a related technical discipline. Physical Demands Employee will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting and lifting. Will talk and hear to communicate. Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull: objects, materials, controls and tools. May be required to lift, carry and move up to 50lbs. Will work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, work off of platforms and man lifts, and may occasionally work out on an open structure using the appropriate fall protection requirements. Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and leather work boots. Work Environment Will work in all weather conditions ranging from warm/hot – cool/cold. Occasional rain. Will work at different elevations. May be required to work in close, confined spaces for a long period of time. Noise levels will be moderate to high.
