Payroll Operations Analyst Off-Cycle Processing

RTX Corporation is an Aerospace and Defense company that provides advanced systems and services for commercial, military and government customers worldwide. It comprises three industry-leading businesses Collins Aerospace Systems, Pratt & Whitney, and Raytheon. Its 185,000 employees enable the company to operate at the edge of known science as they imagine and deliver solutions that push the boundaries in quantum physics, electric propulsion, directed energy, hypersonics, avionics and cybersecurity. The company, formed in 2020 through the combination of Raytheon Company and the United Technologies Corporation aerospace businesses, is headquartered in Arlington, VA.

The following position is to join our RTX Enterprise Services team:

The Payroll Operations Analyst Off-Cycle Processing role serves as a subject matter expert responsible for executing and overseeing payroll actions across multiple RTX business units, including Raytheon, Collins Aerospace, Pratt & Whitney, and Corporate. This role ensures accurate calculation, validation, reconciliation, and compliance of off-cycle payments, special earnings, transfers, terminations, military differential pay, and daily employee data changes. The analyst applies federal regulations such as USERRA, SOX controls, union CBAs, and RTX policies while conducting detailed reviews and resolving escalated cases. This position partners closely with LOA, Payroll Operations, Time & Labor, HR, and business unit stakeholders to ensure timely, precise, and audit-ready payroll transaction processing across the enterprise.

What You Will Do

  • Audit and validate multiple off-cycle payroll processing procedures, ensuring accuracy of earnings, deductions, tax impacts, and special pay while meeting strict payroll deadlines.
  • Oversee and ensure timely delivery of payroll processing signoffs, serving as the subject matter expert for calculations. Partner closely with LOA, HR, and other teams to ensure accurate documentation, approvals, and data inputs across all business units. Develop, publish, and analyze metrics reporting to monitor SLA adherence, identify processing trends, and highlight improvement opportunities. Provide insights and recommendations to leadership to drive quality, accuracy, and operational efficiency.
  • Act as the SME and primary escalation point for payroll cases, including issues requiring multi-system research, employee communications, policy interpretation, or coordination across HR, LOA, Time & Labor, and business unit stakeholders.
  • Manage incoming report distribution and tracking, ensuring accurate validation, routing, and follow-up across payroll teams. Maintain audit-ready records for all reports and processing actions.
  • Monitor and manage shared team inboxes, triaging incoming requests, prioritizing urgent actions, and ensuring timely responses. Identify items requiring escalation or cross-functional collaboration and maintain complete documentation of resolutions.
  • Review process improvement intake, gathering enhancement ideas from the team, assessing feasibility, and partnering with Payroll Ops leadership to suggest process, system, or control improvements.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • A Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience working with corporate payroll.
  • 1+ year of experience in payroll operations or an adjacent field, preferably in a large multi-business unit organization.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience working with tools such as ADP EV5, Workday, SNOW, and reporting systems.
  • Proficiency in customer service management and expertise on handling case escalations.
  • Experience processing termination and transfer transactions related to final pay and other time-off payouts across business units.
  • Familiarity with payroll-related compliance processes and regulations.
  • Advanced Excel analytical skills (Pivot Tables, Xlookup, etc.)
  • Ability to work with complex multi-system workflows, adhering to federal laws and regulations while maintaining strong attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical, reconciliation, and audit skills.
