The Office of Public Counsel, a division of the Nebraska Legislature, is seeking applications for the position of Assistant Public Counsel. This unique position provides the opportunity to serve the public by holding government agencies accountable, impartially and independently solving problems, studying systems to understand how government can improve, and making recommendations for well-functioning state government systems.
Salary range: $72,053 - $81,049 annually
The Assistant Public Counsel/Ombudsman investigates complaints against administrative agencies, documents findings and recommendations, studies government systems, and responds to inquiries about state government. Additionally, the Assistant:
This is a position that will work on cases from a wide variety of government agencies, with particular focus on the developmental disability and Medicaid systems and programs.
Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities The preferred candidate will have a robust understanding and knowledge of the Nebraska's developmental disability system and Medicaid system.
Requirements / Qualifications:
Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of remaining in a stationary position and working on a computer. Ability to conduct visits to state facilities and related sites.
