Senior Specialist Legal Editor, Capital Markets & Corporate Governance (Startups) Role Summary We are seeking an experienced capital markets lawyer with significant experience advising startups to join Practical Law's Capital Markets & Corporate Governance team in the US. About The Role As a Senior Specialist Legal Editor in Practical Law, you will use your specialist legal knowledge of, and experience in, law and practice addressing issues unique to startups to create and maintain a wide range of content and to support the development of Thomson Reuters AI‑powered legal solutions. Working in a supportive team of highly experienced colleagues, you will deal with a breadth of interesting work. Responsibilities Researching, drafting, and maintaining clear, current, and practical legal know‑how content addressing the needs of startup companies for Practical Law and other Thomson Reuters products and initiatives in alignment with market practice, customer needs, and business objectives, using a variety of evolving tools, formats, and content development methods. Monitoring legal, practice, and market developments impacting startups to ensure personal skills and expertise and that our content remains relevant and accurate. Using your legal expertise to support the development of customer‑focused AI‑powered tools, including identifying and implementing methods that address the intersection of content development and AI‑driven legal solutions. Partnering with Product Management to innovate on tech development, product enhancements, and the integration of AI into TR's offerings. Using your legal expertise and writing skills to support the development and application of internal AI editorial tools. Establishing and maintaining relationships with external law firm contributors and industry groups to ensure content reflects market practice and meets customer needs. Supporting sales, marketing, and other parts of the business, including responding to customer inquiries. About You You’re a fit for the role of Senior Specialist Legal Editor in Practical Law if your background includes Qualifications JD required. Minimum of eight (8) years' experience working as a lawyer in a law firm or in‑house with a significant amount of experience working with startup companies. Strong technical skills and the ability to effectively utilize various tools, including generative AI technologies, to enhance productivity and accuracy. Demonstrated adaptability and flexibility to work on diverse projects and tasks within the generative AI space as well as new and emerging technologies. Deep curiosity about the increasing intersection of AI and legal practice, with a desire to build legal prompt engineering skills and innovative content development methods that optimize AI responses for specific legal tasks. Understand current market issues and proposals to enact, amend, or change laws and regulations impacting US startups. Understand the needs and priorities of law firm attorneys, in‑house counsel, and other startup professionals. Skill and passion for writing and the ability to write about complex legal issues clearly and concisely in plain English. Innovative, agile thinker with excellent time management, organizational skills, and demonstrated project management. Enthusiasm for working on a dynamic editorial team, comfortable working in an environment of rapid change, and a passion for exploring how AI can revolutionize editorial content creation. Candidates selected for a second interview will be required to submit a writing sample. This role can be located out of a home office anywhere in the United States if the candidate does not live near a Thomson Reuters office. What’s in it For You? Thomson Reuters complies with local laws that require upfront disclosure of the expected pay range for a position. The base compensation range varies across locations. For any eligible US locations, unless otherwise noted, the base compensation range for this role is $119,700 USD - $222,300 USD. Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills and experience with consideration given to internal equity. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive Total Reward program which also includes flexible and supportive benefits and other wellbeing programs. This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance. This job posting will close 08/31/2026.
