Job Summary The Radiology Technologist performs x‑ray scans of patient’s internal anatomy to aid physicians in diagnosing illnesses, diseases, or injuries. The technologist executes radiologic services in compliance with relevant laws and regulations, provides consultation advice to patients and radiology professionals, and delivers patient care and education before, during, and after diagnostic imaging procedures. Responsibilities Interact with co‑workers, visitors, and other staff in a manner consistent with Jefferson values. Appropriately position radiographic equipment or x‑ray film to produce images with necessary detail or contrast to assist diagnosis and treatment. Explain the radiographic procedure to the patient, obtain a complete and accurate history relevant to the examination, and communicate effectively with the patient. Provide staff and patient protection by following prescribed radiation safety standards, including placement of shields and aprons to limit exposure. Implement and monitor local, state, national regulations, standards, requirements, and clinical protocols for radiologic imaging services. Maintain x‑ray equipment by performing scheduled cleaning, testing, and documenting results. Maintain and update patient and study information to ensure billing and RIS/PACS accuracy; handle patient records while maintaining confidentiality. Perform other related technologist duties as directed by the lead technologist, supervisor, or manager, including those related to quality assurance and/or control. Maintain continuing education required for licenses and job positions. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Graduate of an approved American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) program or current validated ARRT registration in Radiology Technology (R). ARRT (R) or (CT) preferred. Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required) Knowledge of RIS systems. Knowledge of PACS systems. BLS required. License as required by state.
