The EHS Professional assists in the development and deployment of best-in-class Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) programs, systems and processes. Works with facility leadership and EHS Manager in complying with federal, state and local EHS regulations. Uses the EHS strategic plan as a template for continuous improvement of EHS metrics. Helps drive effective, sustainable implementation of corporate and local initiatives. Communicates with regulatory authorities with the assistance of EHS Manager. Maintains an effective communication process with the locations operational and maintenance organizations. Provides training to facility employees and acts as a technical EHS resource for site personnel.
You will have an opportunity to:
- Assist facility leadership with the execution of EHS programs, training and regulations, policies and procedures. Provide support to site strategic and tactical EHS teams. Typically, responsible for providing guidance on compliance OSHA, EPA, state and local regulatory requirements. Responsible for assisting the facility in complying with Industrial hygiene, hazardous waste, wastewater, and ISO 14001. Understands compliance requirements for environmental applications.
- Assists in the preparation of environmental reports including SARA 312 and SARA 313. Responsible for assisting the facility in complying with Clean Water Act and hazardous and solid waste regulations. May complete TRI, NPDES discharge reports to the EPA. Responsible for the design. Conducts audits to ensure EPA, state and local environmental compliance. Participates in incident investigations, develops corrective actions and enters information into Materion Safety. Assists the facilities’ implementation of Process Safety Management and ISO 14000 sustainability efforts.
REQUIREMENTS:
- BS in an EHS field and 3-5 years of experience or equivalent
- Experience designing and implementing compliance strategies with OSHA and EPA regulations. Relevant EPA regulations include: Water permitting, hazardous waste management, compliance assurance and auditing, environmental reporting for water, process safety management, ventilation design, hazardous and solid waste
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience designing and implementing compliance strategies with EPA regulations preferred
- Participates and monitors compliance local, state and federal programs
- Makes recommendations to improve the work environment based on interpretations and professional practices
- Uses complicated environmental and industrial hygiene equipment
- Proficient in data verification, correlation and preparation of EHS reports
- Performs calculations, data entry, data analysis, field monitoring and report writing
- Acts a technical advisor for small projects or less complicated business units
- Develops and conducts EHS training
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Preferred management systems (ISO 45000/14001) experience
The selection of the person to be hired for this position is contingent on the candidate having export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology which comes under the licensing jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of State, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the U.S. Department of Commerce, Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
