Program Manager, Rural and Underserved Programs - Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine

The Program Manager supports the strategic goals of the Office of Rural and Underserved Programs through planning, partnership development, and program management. This position builds and sustains mutually beneficial relationships with community organizations and stakeholders across Ohio to advance the Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine's (HCOM) mission of improving health outcomes and promoting health equity in underserved and Appalachian communities.

The Program Manager oversees community-engaged, population health initiatives and programs that provide HCOM students with experiential learning opportunities in community settings. The role also supports faculty- and student-led scholarly and research activities related to medical education, program evaluation, and the health of underserved populations.

The Program Manager will participate in the implementation and evaluation of curricular and co-curricular programming focused on preparing medical students for underserved practice, including:

  • Rural and Urban Scholars Pathways (RUSP) program, a co-curricular pathway across all four years of medical school on all three campuses
  • Continuity in Primary Care Longitudinal Integrated Clerkship (CFM-LIC) program
  • Open Book Project elective, a series of three elective courses for OMSI and OMSII

This position will assist in managing all aspects of program delivery, including, but not limited to:

  • Course development
  • Promotion
  • Tracking student participation
  • Course evaluation
  • Supporting programming in collaboration with the College of Health Sciences and Professions, Heritage College Community Health Programs (CHP), and the Area Health Education Center (AHEC)

Position Profile - Oversees designated academic program or center and related activities. Manages assigned budget and/or financial responsibilities for program. Evaluates program and provides strategic recommendations for change as needed. Represents program to internal and external contacts. Collaborates with University schools, departments, units regarding program. May be responsible for staff management, compliance monitoring, and writing/reviewing program communications.

Level Summary - Provides professional expertise to the University community. Serves as a resource and guide to others in the department and/or university. Completes operational tasks essential for the daily functioning of the University. Additionally, contributes to larger projects or initiatives that align with department or University goals, often collaborating across teams.

Supervisory Responsibilities - May assist in mentoring or training new employees.

Fiscal Responsibilities - No budgetary responsibility. May be responsible for validating transactions.

Problem Solving - Handles a variety of problems with some independence.

Independence of Action - Some supervision; able to work independently on routine tasks.

Communication and Collaboration - Collaborates with team members and shares knowledge.

Physical Requirements - This role is primarily desk-based and involves extensive use of desktop computers. Occasionally, the job may require travel to attend meetings and programs.

Minimum Qualifications - Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field and 3-5 years of related professional experience, or equivalent education and experience. Healthcare professionals must hold, or be eligible for, appropriate licensure as required by position.

Pay Rate - This position is grant-funded, with up to five years of funding subject to annual approval through a renewal process. The approved hiring range for this position is $51,281 to $67,947. Offers outside of this range require additional approvals. The final offer will be commensurate with the candidate's education and experience in relation to the minimum qualifications for the position. Pay is accompanied by Ohio University's generous benefits package, which includes:
