Respiratory Therapist Job Description Job Title Respiratory Therapist Job Summary We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Respiratory Therapist for a 13-week contract assignment in Columbia, Missouri. This vital role involves providing comprehensive respiratory care to patients within a fast-paced healthcare environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, treating, and managing patients with various cardiopulmonary conditions, ensuring optimal respiratory function and contributing to overall patient well-being. Working primarily night shifts, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. This opportunity is ideal for a skilled RT looking to make an immediate impact in a supportive clinical setting. Key Responsibilities Administering respiratory treatments and therapies, including nebulizer treatments, oxygen therapy, and chest physiotherapy. Managing and monitoring mechanical ventilators, BiPAP, and CPAP machines, making adjustments as needed. Performing arterial blood gas (ABG) draws and analysis, and interpreting results. Assessing patient respiratory status, documenting findings, and communicating changes to the healthcare team. Educating patients and their families on respiratory conditions and treatment plans. Responding to respiratory emergencies and participating in rapid response teams. Maintaining and troubleshooting respiratory equipment. Required Qualifications Minimum of 1-2 years of recent, acute care experience as a Respiratory Therapist. Preferred Qualifications Not specified. Skills & Competencies Proficiency in ventilator management and advanced airway techniques. Strong knowledge of respiratory pharmacology and diagnostic procedures. Ability to perform ABG analysis and interpret results accurately. Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
