Job description

Overview Nuclear Medicine Technologist performs diagnostic imaging procedures using sophisticated radiation-detecting instrumentation. Prepares and administers radioactive chemical compounds known as radiopharmaceuticals. Knowledgeable in IV placement to avoid extravasations of radiopharmaceuticals. Performs computer processing and image enhancement. Provides images, data analysis, and patient information to the physician for diagnostic interpretation. Provides excellent patient care and demonstrates excellent customer service. Entity Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA) Worker Type Employee – Regular – Cost Center: CC000544 CHS - Nuclear Medicine (Main). Pay Rate Type: Hourly. Pay Grade: Health-29. Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40. Job Description Must be a certified nuclear medicine technologist (CNMT) or registered technologist (RT(N)). Should have acquired skills from a CAHEA approved program. Licensure from the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association is required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider. Proactively maintains and renews ARRT, state license, BLS, PPD, respirator fit test, and POC training. Must obtain ARRT Computed Tomography or NMTCB (CT) Registration within 1 year of hire date. Responsibilities Perform diagnostic imaging procedures and administer radiopharmaceuticals. Perform computer processing and image enhancement. Provide images, data analysis, and patient information to physicians. Provide excellent patient care and demonstrate customer service. Maintain BLS, ARRT, state license, and other safety certifications. Physical Demands Ability to perform job functions while standing, sitting, walking, and climbing stairs. Ability to work indoors, and occasionally outside in temperature extremes. Ability to work in confined or cramped spaces, elevated areas, and kneeling positions. Ability to bend, twist at waist, squat, scoot, and perform repetitive motions with hands, wrists, elbows, and shoulders. Ability to perform fine manipulation with fingers and hands. Ability to lift, carry or move objects up to 50 lbs unassisted; lift and lower objects 50 lbs from/to floor to 36 inches unassisted; lift objects up to 25 lbs from 36inches to overhead. Maintain visual acuity (20/40 vision), hearing, tactile, olfactory, and respiratory sensors as required. Ability to work rotating shifts, overtime, and in a latex‑safe environment. Qualifications Certified nuclear medicine technologist (CNMT) or registered technologist (RT(N)). Degree from CAHEA approved program. License from South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association. Valid BLS certification (AHA or Red Cross). ARRT, state license, BLS, PPD, respirator fit test, and POC training must be maintained and renewed. ARRT Computed Tomography or NMTCB (CT) registration within 1 year of hire.
