Station Manager – PLANT QUARANTINE SUPERVISOR II $5,543.00 - $6,945.00 per Month. New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable. Overview Under direction of the Agriculture Program Supervisor (APS) III (Area Manager), the Plant Quarantine Supervisor (PQS) II (Station Manager) is responsible for overseeing all activities and day‑to‑day operations of the border protection station as well as overseeing contracted employees and non‑State workers in the facility. The PQS II oversees regulatory inspections on vehicles and commodities to prevent the introduction of unwanted pests into California. Responsibilities • Oversee day‑to‑day operations of the border protection station. • Manage contracted employees and non‑State workers in the facility. • Conduct regulatory inspections on vehicles and commodities. • Ensure compliance with plant quarantine regulations and policies. • Coordinate with other state agencies and federal partners as required. Working Conditions Employees in this classification are routinely assigned to work weekends and holidays, and rotating work shifts including day, evening, and night. This job is performed outdoors, in the private vehicle and truck inspection areas approximately 25% of the time, with the remaining time spent in an office environment. When working outdoors, the employee may be exposed to high‑low temperature changes, variable climatic conditions such as rain, snow, wind, fumes, and odors. The noise level in the work environment is moderate. The wearing of a uniform and use of safety equipment is required.
