OPEE Director Department: Recreation Employment Status: Chapter 7 Ordinance, Non-Exempt, Seasonal (Hours As Needed/Varies) Salary $21.50/Hour Schedule: Mon - Fri; 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM Certifications/Licenses Required: Massachusetts Class D Driver's License (with Insurable driving record), Adult/Pediatric First Aid and C.P.R./A.E.D. SUMMARY The City of Chicopee's Recreation Department, OPEE Summer Adventures Division, is hiring an OPEE Director who will plan, direct, and supervise all camp programs and staff. The director will oversee all groups of children, take records, schedule activities, and evaluate staff. ESSENTIAL DUTIES Define camp goals and/or define and plan program to reflect camp goals. Prepare and conduct pre-camp and in-service staff trainings. Order or supervise the ordering of food, supplies, and equipment, and arrange for proper distribution. Set and supervise office procedures, opening-and closing-day procedures for staff and campers. Develop routines, schedules, and procedures for camp operation. Operation. Assign Staff Activities And Other Responsibilities. Supervise and evaluate, or supervise evaluations of, all operations and program staff. Maintain and review records and evaluations of all programs, operations, staff, and facilities. Prepare an evaluation and summary of the current season including inventories, staff evaluations, camper reports, and recommendations for the following season. Define and monitor crisis management plan, including emergency procedures. Organize and/or approve trips out of camp for program, supplies, and crisis management. Monitor safety and all procedures as they pertain to the complete supervision of all campers and staff. Help provide an atmosphere for developing good morale and well-being among the camp family. QUALIFICATIONS Massachusetts Class D Driver’s License (with Insurable driving record) - Required Adult/Pediatric First Aid and C.P.R./A.E.D. - Required College Degree - Required Age 21+ and above - Required Experience as a supervisor and/or director in a camp or educational field. - Required At least 3 years experience in working with children. - Required BENEFITS The City of Chicopee provides its employees (contingent upon employment status) with a robust benefits package which include the following: recurring sick time, vacation, thirteen holidays per year, retirement plan, and more.
