Job description

Physician Faculty, Acute Leukemia - Assistant / Associate Professor (Location: US-OR-Portland) Salary: $320K – $535K (based on education, experience, and internal equity) Department Overview The Oregon Health & Science University - Knight Cancer Institute is a pioneer in personalized cancer medicine and an international leader in research and cancer treatment. The Division of Hematology & Medical Oncology has over 110 faculty and includes general hematology, solid tumor oncology, bone marrow transplant & cellular therapy, hematological malignancies, and palliative medicine. Located in Portland, Oregon, OHSU offers a highly collaborative, hospital‑focused environment within a comprehensive healthcare university. Function/Duties of Position The duties of this position support the missions, goals, and objectives of OHSU and the School of Medicine and include driving and participating in the research mission of the university as applied to patients with CML, leukemia, myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN)/myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS). The individual will serve as a member of the Center for Hematologic Malignancies, a section of the Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology, Department of Medicine. The faculty member will join the myeloid malignancy team with the goal of expanding basic, translational, and clinical research programs. Responsibilities include laboratory and/or clinical investigations of myeloid malignancy, management of patients with myeloid malignancies in the outpatient setting, attending on the inpatient hematologic malignancy service, shared responsibility for on‑call coverage, case conferencing with multidisciplinary teams, coordination of teaching rounds with fellows and house‑staff, growing clinical and research programs, fostering collaborative relationships with referring physicians and organizations, medical direction to CHM data managers and nurse coordinators, development and participation in clinical trials, participation in administrative committees and councils of OHSU, and engaging in public service through consultative activities with external groups (with proper approval). It is anticipated that your job will consist of the following components: Research, Clinical, Teaching, and Service. Required Qualifications MD or MD/PhD Licensed to practice medicine in Oregon Board certified in Internal Medicine Board eligible or certified in Hematology and/or oncology Preferred Qualifications Proven success working with multidisciplinary teams, a history of training focused on the care of leukemia patients, conducting research in hematologic malignancies, and success in obtaining extramural funds for clinical trials and/or basic science research.
