Overview The Antitrust Division (ATR) is seeking a PARALEGAL SPECIALIST in the Litigation Program. The program focuses on building and enhancing litigation readiness across Criminal and Civil Enforcement Programs. Responsibilities Provide support to experienced litigators and trial advisors, partnering with trial teams. Develop and enhance knowledge management on all litigation topics by collecting and organizing trial transcripts, motions, pleadings, responses, and trial graphics. Partner with investigative teams to identify, assess, and formulate litigation strategy. Provide logistical and administrative support for litigation in partnership with paralegals and staff. As a PARALEGAL SPECIALIST you will: Review, code, categorize, and analyze electronic and hard copy documents in accordance with case priorities, using case management programs and document review platforms. Perform legal or factual research and draft memoranda using file resources, library references, corporate records, private and governmental studies, case management programs, document review platforms, and other pertinent sources, to include factual information in memoranda, briefs, and related documents. Assist attorneys and/or law enforcement partners in conducting interviews with investigative sources and prospective witnesses. Communicate and coordinate with attorneys and/or law enforcement agents to collect and track investigative files, including search warrants and subpoenaed documents. Proactively assist lower‑grade paralegals in performing their assigned duties and act as the first point of contact for guidance. When multiple paralegals are on a case, assume lead paralegal role and distribute assignments to juniors. Assist the trial team in advance of trial dates and during trial, including on‑site attendance at local and/or remote trial sites. Requirements (Conditions of Employment) U.S. Citizen. Qualifications (Specialized Experience) Specialized experience is required to meet the duties described above and is typically in or related to this position. To qualify for GS‑11, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS‑09. For GS‑9, at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS‑07 is required. GS‑11 Level Requirements Audit investigative files, including internal records, subpoenaed records, and records obtained via search warrant, for production in discovery. Work with attorneys and/or law enforcement partners in preparing witnesses for court appearances or grand jury testimony. Coordinate with attorneys in creating document review protocols. Demonstrate expertise in electronic document production. Work with document review platforms (e.g., Relativity). Provide guidance and advice to junior paralegals and/or distribute assignments to them on behalf of attorneys. GS‑9 Level Requirements Prepare and organize charts, graphs, and other materials to be used as exhibits in court. Prepare routine correspondence. Take accurate notes during attorney proffers and witness interviews and prepare memoranda from those notes. Perform legal or factual research to supply required factual information for inclusion in memoranda, briefs, and related documents. Review and code electronic and hard copy documents using case management programs (e.g., Relativity). Education GS‑11: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 full years of progressively higher graduate education leading to such a degree, or an L.L.M. if related. GS‑9: 2 years of progressively higher‑level graduate education leading to a Master’s degree, L.L.B. or J.D., if related. Combinations of graduate education and specialized experience may be used to meet total experience requirements (percentage calculation as described). Transcript(s) must be provided. Unofficial transcripts acceptable to qualify, but an official transcript must be submitted prior to appointment if selected. Foreign Education If education completed in foreign colleges/universities is used to meet qualification requirements, credentials must have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in foreign education interpretation and deemed equivalent to a U.S. program, or full credit granted for courses at a U.S. accredited institution. All documentation must be in English or include an English translation.
