Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Profession: Nursing Specialty: Med-surg Adult, Obstetrics Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 1700 - 0530 Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Current Registered Nurse (RN) License in the State of Idaho or approved compact state licensure Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required upon hire or within one year of employment Must-Have: Minimum of one year of previous experience in obstetric nursing Description: The RN provides compassionate and skilled care to expectant mothers during labor, delivery, and the postpartum period. This role involves monitoring the health of both mother and baby. Assist in the birthing process. Ensure a safe and supportive environment for families. In the event of no active patients in the specialty unit, the RN will be assigned to the med-surg unit. This ensures appropriate staffing levels and continuity of care. Adaptability in patient assignments is required. Clinical expertise and a commitment to patient-centered care are essential. Essential duties include adhering to therapeutic standards and measuring health outcomes against patient care goals. Follow facility standards of care set by regulatory agencies. Possess knowledge and skills regarding nursing principles and practice. Provide comprehensive care to obstetric patients, including laboring mothers, postpartum recovery, and newborns. Assist with labor and delivery, including fetal monitoring and medication administration. Educate patients and families on postpartum care, breastfeeding, and newborn health. Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe and effective care. Assess, plan, and implement nursing care for adult patients with medical and surgical conditions. Administer medications, IV therapy, and wound care as per physician orders. Monitor patient progress, document assessments, and adjust care plans accordingly. Assist with post-operative recovery and chronic illness management. Respond to emergencies and coordinate with interdisciplinary teams for optimal patient outcomes. Communicate effectively with a wide range of age groups and backgrounds. Demonstrate organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks accurately and quickly. Make nursing decisions within the scope of licensure and according to established hospital policies. Attend nursing staff meetings and avail oneself of in-service education for professional growth. Establish a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients and families. Promote patient independence by setting care goals and teaching self-care skills. Document patient care services in department records. Maintain continuity among nursing teams through effective documentation and communication. Delegate and oversee tasks assigned to nursing assistants and other support staff. Be able to work weekends, holidays, and shifting rotations as required. Support the mission and values of the organization, ensuring a workplace free from harassment and discrimination. Adhere to safety and infection control measures. Comply with legal and regulatory requirements relevant to the nursing role. Support teamwork and maintain positive public relations with patients, families, and guests. Complete all requirements for training, attendance, and professional standards.
