Job Summary The Radiology Technician performs basic to complex diagnostic radiographic procedures as requested by a licensed physician. They exercise professional judgment in applying x‑ray energy to assist in the diagnosis or treatment of patients of all ages, from newborn to elderly. The technician is multi‑skilled in the use of operating room procedures and equipment. Responsibilities Produce high‑quality diagnostic radiographs, selecting and operating appropriate radiographic equipment and protocols. Practice aseptic techniques and understand venipuncture and other sterile methods; prepare, identify, and/or administer contrast media as prescribed. Rotate through advanced areas of diagnostic radiology, including O.R., urography room, open reductions, myelography, arthrography, placements, and trauma procedures. Evaluate images for technical quality and ensure proper identification and procedure documentation. Assist practitioners with fluoroscopy, arthrography, O.R. procedures, and trauma. Communicate with patients, providing instructions and history to obtain desired results and minimize anxiety. Ensure physical safety and psychological needs of patients during procedures. Position patients to best demonstrate anatomical areas of interest, respecting their comfort and safety, and verifying pregnancy information. Implement protective measures to prevent injury from thermal, electrical, mechanical, laser, chemical, and radiation sources. Provide instruction, evaluation, and precepting for students and other healthcare professionals. Assume responsibility for assigned areas, maintain quality control of equipment, and report malfunctions. Maintain a clean and organized working area, initiating incident, contrast agent variance, and accident reports promptly. Perform related duties such as transporting patients, film processing, and film filing as needed. Utilize resources efficiently and effectively; maintain a safe environment; address patient‑population specific needs. Participate in performance improvement activities. Qualifications Minimum Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology Preferred Education: Associate’s Degree Minimum Experience: None specified Preferred Experience: None specified Required Certifications/License: Current Texas Medical Board (TMB) license. American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification in Radiography or registry‑eligible. ARRT certification within one year of graduation from an accredited school. Preferred Certifications/License: None specified Required Courses/Completions (e.g., CPR): Must have active Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (ARC or AHA) on hire; must have AHA Healthcare Provider BLS within 60 days of hire.
